St. Vincent Pallotti is a coeducational college preparatory school of 430 students with a diverse student body located in the historical district of Laurel MD. This includes the Pallotti Arts Academy an intensive 4-year program where students concentrate in one of five arts disciplines in preparation for entrance into college and university arts Pallotti Arts Academy is looking for a part-time Theatre teacher who has a strong background in the backstage components of theatre (production backstage lighting set design and construction stage management and playwriting). The candidate will also need to teach some aspects of introduction to acting. Teacher will work individually with students and in larger groups. Any background in Musical Theatre is a plus. The mission of Pallotti High Schools Arts Academy is to provide a rigorous and selective interdisciplinary arts program for 9th-12th graders that aligns with academics and is a part-time academic year position reporting to the Director of the Arts Academy. The successful candidate will be available to teach their class Monday Friday from approximately noon to candidates will possess the following qualifications:Demonstrate a passion for and experience working with adolescents in a Catholic college-prep setting;Support and uphold the mission of a Catholic and Pallottine educational community;Collaborate with fellow faculty members and the administration in supporting students;Be committed to working closely with parents and be available for evening and periodic weekend programming; including Fall play and Spring Musical;Ability to execute and adapt lesson plans to students in the areas of acting (both Early American and Modern American drama and Improv) theater history directing audition prep cold readings playwriting and devised theater;Work with the lead theater teacher to find best course of action for individual students and classes;Possess superior communication and interpersonal skills;Possess excellent time management and organizational skills and be able to adapt to the complexities of the job;Have earned a Bachelors degree in a relevant subject area;Be open to taking a role in the community outside of the is commensurate with Type: Part-timePay: $20000.00 - $22000.00 per year
