Job Description

The Maritime Systems Division of the Leidos Defense Group is seeking a highly capable Systems Engineer with a deep background in undersea operations unmanned systems integration and cross-functional technical leadership to support maritime projects including the development and testing of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs). The ideal candidate will bring substantial experience working with multi-disciplinary teams on subsea system integration field deployment and technical coordination for high-priority defense and ocean engineering missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including system requirements CONOPS interface control documents and operations manuals.
  • Conduct trade studies to assess design alternatives and recommend optimal solutions for mission-critical systems.
  • Specify integrate and evaluate sensors control assemblies electrical components underwater cabling and rack-mounted systems for subsea and surface maritime platforms.
  • Review and interpret electrical schematics mechanical drawings and cable wiring diagrams.
  • Support mechanical and electrical assembly of prototype systems both in laboratory and marine environments.
  • Create test plans and procedures; support and execute lab and open-water test events.
  • Conduct system-level electronic testing including digital and analog circuits signal processing and power systems.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues during testing; perform root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Provide end-to-end field support including mobilization demobilization at-sea system operations and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams customers suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present design review materials and technical briefings to internal and external audiences.
  • Support occasional travel and work at remote locations including shipboard environments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in engineering ocean engineering or a related technical field with 48 years of relevant experience; equivalent military or operational experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience supporting the integration and operation of electro-mechanical and electrical systems in maritime or mission-critical environments.
  • Proficient in the use of electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes multimeters power supplies and signal generators.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to lead or collaborate in diverse cross-disciplinary teams.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Physically capable of lifting equipment climbing ladders and working in confined marine environments.
  • Active TS//SCI security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in maritime systems ocean engineering or undersea technology programs.
  • Operational or project experience with autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) or manned submersibles.
  • Familiarity with underwater connectors fiber optic telemetry and acoustic communication systems.
  • Hands-on field experience supporting integration and operation of electrical and sensor systems in subsea or shipboard environments.

Experience coordinating with military government or defense stakeholders in a technical or operational capacity.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $85150.00 - $153925.00

The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job education experience knowledge skills and abilities as well as internal equity alignment with market data applicable bargaining agreement (if any) or other law.
