Job Overview: The Hamilton County Prosecuting Attorney is seeking a qualified attorney to lead and manage the day-to-day responsibilities and long-range planning needs of the Family Law Division. The Chief of the Family Division supervises 15 Assistant prosecutors and 6 support staff members. The Family Law Division provides legal services and legal representation to the Hamilton Co. Jobs and Family Services (HCJFS) the agency administering child protective services including investigating reports of abuse and neglect.
Responsibilities and Duties: - Manages and directs the activities of attorneys and support staff; coordinates prioritizes and assigns tasks and projects; tracks and reviews work progress and activities.
- Directs the recruitment and selection of legal and support staff; undertakes disciplinary action as required; ensures appropriate scheduling of staff to ensure operational coverage.
- Identifies and implements the goals objectives policies procedures and work standards for the division; assists in the preparation and implementation of the division budget.
- Provides legal advice and consultation to HCJFS; provides legal training to HCJFS staff when necessary.
- Responds to requests for information; identifies and researches legal issues and recommends solutions.
- Prepares pleadings and other court documents.
- Retrieves information and prepares a variety of management reports.
- Prepares internal and external correspondence on a variety of court related matters.
- Ensures that employees under supervision comply with all applicable office directives and standards of professional conduct.
- Works professionally with members of the Prosecutors Office court personnel counsel law enforcement agencies and the public.
- Serves on task forces committees and workgroups to review evaluate or recommend changes to policies rules or systems that impact operations.
- Performs all other duties assigned to delegated to or required of the Chief of the Division.
Qualifications: - Juris Doctorate.
- Licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio.
- 5 years of work experience in Family Law (child abuse neglect and dependency). Preferred applicants will have at least 7 years of experience in Family Law (child abuse neglect and dependency).
- Ability to conduct business in accordance within State and Federal statutes and guidelines.
- Ability to perform all other duties assigned delegated or required of the Assistant Prosecuting attorney as well as those prescribed by law.
- Background check required.
