ABOUT THE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT:

The Engineering Services Department consists of three separate sections Land Development Project Delivery and Transportation with a total of twenty-four (24) staff spanning various roles. From its earliest days the City of Rancho Cucamonga was dubbed the City with a Plan and over the past forty years we have been creating a World Class Community. So what does this have to do with engineering Everything!

Engineering is more than simply building and maintaining roads its about providing the built environment that is the context for the people and the places of our lives. As we move into our fifth decade as a City we are continuing to build a World Class Community for our children and grandchildren to enjoy. One that takes the best parts of our past and continues growing and reimagining itself for the future. We are excited to have the opportunity to play a big part in what is coming next for our community. Whether it is through high quality design and construction of the built environment by ensuring that our environment stays clean and sustainable or by providing reliable utility services to residents and businesses.

The Engineering Services Department is looking to fill a Management Aide role to provide support to the Department as a whole. This position will report directly to the Management Analyst II and will be a key member of the Engineering Services Department Administrative Team.


Youll be responsible for:
  • Assisting with budget preparation and analysis as well as ongoing management of operating budget through tracking of expenditures and revenues from the Departments three sections.
  • Assisting with the preparation of the Citys annual Major Projects Program (annual capital plan).
  • Processing of invoices and credit card statements as well as reconciliation of transactions.
  • Submittal of purchase requisitions and supplemental purchase orders.
  • Preparing staff reports formal department reports memos and other administrative materials.
  • Compiling data for use in reports presentation complex spreadsheets and Departments performance measures.
  • Assisting with basic grant applications and grant funds management for programs and capital projects and providing administrative support to project managers.
  • Assisting with the annual budget process including entering data into budget modules.
  • Supporting the management of active transportation initiatives including the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program and the Connect RC Bicycle Subcommittee.
  • Coordinating and collaborating with school staff City departments and community stakeholders to advance active transportation goals and initiatives.
  • Assisting with program development implementation and evaluation by facilitating the delivery of identified strategies and conducting effective community engagement.

ABOUT THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT:


The City of Rancho Cucamonga Economic Development Department serves as a liaison between the City and the business community. Economic Development is responsible for encouraging business investment opportunities and supporting business retention expansion and attraction activities in Rancho Cucamonga. The Economic Development Team is committed to driving the local economy advancing the economic vibrancy and sustainability of our City and enhancing quality of life for our residents and businesses.


Youll be responsible for:

  • Helping to implement the Citys Economic Development Strategy.
  • Developing relationships with our business community and strategic partners to foster job creation and growth.
  • Working with our communications team to help develop impactful materials to support our economic development goals.
  • Assisting with the management and creation of content for the departments social media channels.
  • Assisting with administering and implementation of the Citys Community Block Grant program.
  • Participating in the development of goals and workplans for the department.
  • Gathering analyzing and maintaining data and statistics on local businesses the local economy and job market the local housing market and other related areas.

ABOUT THE ENGAGEMENT AND SPECIAL PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT:


Under the umbrella of the City Managers Office Workgroup the newly established Engagement and Special Programs (ESP) department brings together key initiatives including the Community Affairs Network (CAN) Healthy RC Legislative Affairs Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Broadband (RC Fiber) and the Rancho Cucamonga Municipal Utility (RCMU). ESP plays a crucial role in executing City Council policy directives and managing multi-departmental programs that enhance community well-being. These efforts encompass capital improvement projects grant management community engagement communications and marketing the nationally recognized Healthy RC initiative the Public Art Placemaking Program and Legislative Advocacy. Serving as a hub for collaboration ESP engages with residents government agencies and internal City departments to foster partnerships address diverse needs and drive impactful initiatives that strengthen the Rancho Cucamonga community.


Youll be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement programs policies and activities that advance project goals and meet deliverables.
  • Considering participatory processes and community involvement strategies to assess encourage and support healthy living and environmental sustainability goals.
  • Conducting outreach and building partnerships with key stakeholders for assigned projects.
  • Managing tracking and documenting project activities and ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner.
  • Preparing reports and presentations.
  • Developing and implementing comprehensive communications strategies as necessary.
  • Planning coordinating and attending community events.
  • Performing research and analysis including identifying best practices of other agencies and communities.
  • Gathering and maintaining data and statistics on department operations and making recommendations for improvement.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED

Education and/or Experience:
Any combination of education and/or experience that has provided the knowledge skills and abilities necessary for satisfactory job performance. Example combinations include five years of increasingly responsible clerical technical and routine administrative experience related to the responsibilities of the assigned position including or supplemented by college-level training in public administration accounting data processing or a related field.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
Working knowledge of methods and techniques of research statistical analysis and report preparation; methods and procedures of budget preparation; organization and functions of the assigned municipal department; general office procedures. Ability to perform specialized technical and routine administrative tasks; key data and operate a computer terminal in performance of assigned tasks; conduct research perform analysis and prepare reports of findings; interpret and apply related laws ordinances and regulations; work independently; understand and follow verbal and written directions; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships; communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Special Requirements:
Depending upon assignment possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California drivers license and a satisfactory driving record may be required.
