Job Description Summary
The Counselor/Therapist is a as needed per diem temporary position reporting to the Director of Student Psychological Services.
Responsibilities
The counselor/therapist provides individual assessment counseling and referrals for a wide range of personal and social adjustments concerns. This position assesses severity of psychopathology and develops treatment planning and case management. The counselor/therapist administers scores and interprets psychological testing providing workshops and educational forums when needed. The position is responsible in maintenance of client records according to legal and ethical guidelines and standards and will consult with psychiatrists and administration when appropriate. They provide crisis intervention and has emergency on-call responsibilities. The counselor/therapist participates in outreach program development training and consultation with staff and faculty. They will perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Licensed or License Eligible psychologist social worker professional clinical counselor or marriage and family therapist in California. Demonstrated ability to provide individual conjoint group and crisis counseling. Demonstrated ability to use tact and diplomacy and maintain high level of confidentiality. Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Knowledge of psychological theory and testing appropriate for a college population. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with diverse individuals in a university. Proven ability to operate calmly and effectively under stressful conditions. Skills in preparing and maintaining confidential records. Strong analytical skills to provide excellent psychological evaluations. Ability to learn and adhere to legal and ethical guidelines in records keeping. Ability to learn and interpret university policies and procedures. Ability to evaluate the progress of therapy and modify treatment when appropriate. Technical skills to learn and use enterprise systems and departmental tools.
