About the job

Drive customer order execution according to agreed plan and in line with our priorities safety quality delivery and cost. First line manager. Coordinate between different processes and support functions. The Team Manager Shipping and Receiving leads a team of 10-15 people on 2 shifts with responsibility for inbound and outbound shipments servicing all operations.

Currently this is an on site opportunity located in Richmond VA.

As a part of the team you will:

  • Manager for Team Members and Team Leaders
  • As process owner be responsible for:
    • safety of the people processes and manufactured/delivered products
    • quality Q-system
    • delivery
    • cost
  • Responsible for scheduling of deliveries (sea freight air freight etc) to local site and external warehouses
  • Responsible for GPHE (Gasketed plate heat exchanger) & HFH (Hygienic fluid handling) inbound receiving processes
  • Responsible for GPHE & HFH outbound warehouse processes to include shipping and transportation through coordination with the Alfa Laval Logistics Control Tower (LCT).
  • Establish all operational policies for verification of outbound shipments and issue resolution.
  • Maintain relationships with third party material storage sites and packaging vendors.
  • Act as Outbound Warehouse organization and Process Owner.
  • Involvement in the global warehouse processes collaborating with other Alfa Laval sites to secure best practices.
  • Manage the product flow/storage inventory control and distribution activities through the Warehouse organization.
  • Operational responsibilities to communicate align and implement defined strategy for assigned area to meet company goals.
  • Disposition of claims returns and/or damaged goods.
  • Involvement in the global warehouse processes and global transportation teams
  • Coordinate export control to ensure proper licensing on all exported orders.
  • Successful development of local organization in terms of competence and succession planning according to Alfa Laval Production System
    • Verify the quality and execution of the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) via audit dialogues
    • Perform audits according to the Alfa Laval Production System
    • By own presence drive performance of the team and employees
    • Be responsible for own department cost center.
    • Drive performance meetings improvement meetings and related activities
    • Be a link between the factory and support functions for daily issues.
    • Control of quality deviations and line stops.
    • Set and follow up targets for the team and each employee broken down from unit level.
  • As first line manager make (or consult on) decisions involving:
    • overtime work
    • Capacity transfer in and out of the cell
    • stopping production in the cell in case of safety / quality / environmental deviations
    • SOP audit dialogues and take corrective actions in case of deviations
    • the delegation of tasks in the unit

What you know:

You have a Bachelors degree in distribution logistics supply-chain or related field prefered with relevant experience and:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience from relevant area in a production/manufacturing company/transportation
  • A visible result driven leader delivering results through the team.
  • Strong people management recruiting training development and team building skills
  • Lean distribution and warehousing experience training and techniques a plus
  • Warehouse site management experience
  • Computer experience in MS applications and ERP or Warehouse Management systems
  • Experience from improvement tools e g 5S Six Sigma Kaizen
  • Production finance
  • Be a result driven leader who likes to be present in the organization.
  • Drive result through people.
  • Be open and communicative
  • Have high integrity
