Projects will include developingstrategicaffordableand workforcehousing models implementing innovative zoning and urban design policies testing multimodal mobility solutions andcreatecompelling visual narratives and interactive media for diverse stakeholder engagement. The ideal candidate is design-oriented withexperiencein urban planning andmultifamilyarchitecturereal estate development andinnovative design.

About the Livability Lab:
The City of Anaheims Livability Lab is a limited-term grant within the Housing and Community Development Department. It addresses affordable housingchallengeswith a systems-thinking approach recognizing that access to housing is inextricably linked to mobility and workforce development.TheLivabilityLab thrives on innovation through research geospatial data analytics interdisciplinary collaboration proactive community engagement human-centered design.

Coordinate and work closely with other City departmentsregardingrequirements for various projects; meet withneighborhoodand other groups to discuss the status of projects.
Manage the scope of work and schedule. Ensure that all required projects are deliveredin a timely manner andmonitorprojects and initiatives for compliance with federal state and local laws regulations and guidelines.
Manage geospatial analyses and develop maps and visualizations using GIS tools to support innovative policy and design solutions.
Prepare conceptual urban design plans and comprehensive massing studies using 3D modeling software and Adobe Creative Suite to explore and communicate transformative housing and urban design strategies.
Coordinate and prepare visually compelling diagrams infographics and multimedia presentations that clearly communicate complex design ideas policy recommendations housing scenarios and urban planning initiatives to internal teams City officials and stakeholders.
Support interdisciplinary project coordination with internal City departments and external consultants developers architects nonprofit organizations and academic experts to integrate diverse perspectives and enrich project outcomes.
Assistin the design planning and execution of community engagement activities including preparing visual materialsfacilitatingsurveys developing interactive digital media andparticipatingin public meetingsthat promote community engagement and co-design.
Research and analyze contemporary trends inequitableurban development housing policy and multimodal mobility solutions; synthesize findings to support progressive and innovative local policy and program development.
Draft clear well-organized reports professional presentation materials and visual documentation to communicate policy goals project outcomes and strategic initiatives to Housing and Community Development Department leadership City commissions City Council and other stakeholders.
Participate proactively in professional development staying informed of emerging housing and urban design policies and best practices.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Experience and Education:One year (Project Manager I) or three years (Project Manager II) of responsible professional level experience in redevelopment planning supplemented by a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration public administration urban planning environmental science architecture engineering finance or a related field. An equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
PreferredQualifications
Bachelors or masters degree in urban design urban planning or a related field with academic or professional experience in Architecture
Knowledge ofArcGIS Pro for geospatial analysis mapping and data visualization
Knowledgein Rhinoceros 3D for modeling and vector drawings
Proficientin Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign Illustrator Photoshop)
Demonstrated graphic design sensibility and visual communication skills
Community engagement and participatory design experience
Knowledge of housing policy and real estate development
Experience with Revit
Programming skills and familiarity with AI/machine learning workflows
Knowledge of:Progressive principles and practices of urban design urban planning and architectural design; methods and procedures for spatial data analysis mapping and visualization; principles of equitable urban development housing policy zoning and land use planning; design software; methods and techniques of effective technical research graphic communication visual storytelling and report preparation; basic principles of public engagement and participatory design processes; pertinent federal state and local laws codes and regulations related to housing development; spreadsheets and graphic design programs.
Ability to:Produce data driven policy and design solutions; interpret urban design guidelines zoning codes and site plans; prepare clear and compelling visual materials including maps conceptual site plans diagrams and graphics; collaborate effectively across departments city officials community stakeholders and external partners; organize and prioritize multiple project timelines efficiently; prepare clear and concise reports presentations and visual documents; operate modern office equipment including computers and relevant software programs; communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
