Job Description
Summary:
The Unconventional is seeking a highly skilled Chinese-Mandarin Linguist/Translator to support a short-term training development support project supporting the American College of Surgeons (ACS). The project is expected to last no more than 30-days and will include translation and voice-over work in the development of multi-media virtual training material.
Specific duties may include but are not limited to:
- Will provide linguistic subject matter expertise.
- Translate medical texts and documents from English into Chinese-Mandarin
- Provide voice-over recordings of provided material into Chinese-Mandarin.
- Perform other such duties as customarily assigned to this type of work.
Requirements
Required Qualifications:
- Must possess professional proficiency (ILR 4) or higher in the Chinese-Mandarin language across all four modalities (listening speaking reading and writing).
- Fluently speak read and write English.
- Know specialized vocabulary (and terminology) in both English and Chinese-Mandarin related to medical terminology
- Translate in a manner that is factually and conceptually accurate without changes omissions or additions.
- Preserve the tone and register of source language materials.
- Must possess your own equipment to support the work to include a reliable internet connection.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or higher within the medical field.
- Previous experience supporting similar work.
Clearance: Must be able to pass a background check.
Location: Remote / Virtual
Travel: Travel is not anticipated.
