What we want
Join the Texas A&M College of Pharmacy as an Admissions Coordinator I in the Office of Student Affairs! In this role you will assist the Associate Dean for Student Affairs and their administrative staff in all aspects of the office including pharmacy admissions; counseling and advising prospective professional pharmacy and transfer students. You will also assist with the planning development and implementation of recruitment activities for the Office of Student Affairs. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment.

Location/Travel: Located in Kingsville Texas this position may include occasional evenings weekends and overnight travel.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
Three years of advising recruiting or related experience
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in education or counseling or a related field
Three years academic advising/counseling and/or working in an admissions environment at the college/university level
Knowledge of MS Office (Word and Excel) and Student Information Systems (Banner or Compass)
Excellent organizational & management skills
Skills in working with various student populations
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to develop and deliver career promotional and program recruitment presentations
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others
Knowledge of word processing spreadsheet and database applications
Knowledge of functions of higher education

Ability to collect write and report various types of data sets
Responsibilities
Admissions Process: Participates and assists with the admissions process coordinated by the Office of Student evaluates the transcripts of prospective students and identifies missing prerequisite coursework relays information about prerequisite course equivalents as necessary evaluates PharmCAS and supplemental applications collects transcripts and other admissions related documents (e.g. results from drug screens and background checks) and will assist with assembly of the admissions rank lists for interviews and admission offers. Remains abreast of changes to the core curriculum established by the THECB and maintains student records consistent with university policy and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Uses PharmCAS and BAMF to track applications and supplemental applications respectively and assists with providing information for admissions reports (e.g. number of applicants from South Texas) requested by the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs.
Recruitment and Outreach:Participates in the recruiting efforts of the Office of Student Affairs including events at middle schools high schools universities and community colleges to present information about the college and the Doctor of Pharmacy program develops relationships with the advisors of pre-pharmacy associations and career counselors to encourage prospective student inquiries and applications provides information for recruiting reports and contributes ideas for improving recruiting efforts. Assists with updating recruitment materials annually and event planning for assigned recruitment events and informational sessions. Assists the OSA Program Manager with coordinating the planning development and implementation of the pharmacy admissions process for the PharmD program. Reviews and evaluates applications for the professional degree program (PharmD) using transcripts and specific admissions criteria as guidelines. Provides information to prospective students about the Doctor of Pharmacy program (e.g. structure of the curriculum cost of attendance etc.) answers questions from prospective newly admitted and current students communicates information to newly admitted students about important upcoming activities or events (e.g. deadlines for required documentation information about pre-orientation and general orientation etc.). Interprets and relates information found in the College of Pharmacy Student Handbook to incoming students.
Program Development and Student Advising:Consults with prospective students one on one to provide transcript evaluations and provide equivalency recommendations for the appropriate institution. Counsels current and prospective students and their families regarding admission procedures major options career objectives degree plans and academic status. Listens to the needs of current and prospective students and connects them with the appropriate student service including Student Business Services Scholarships & Financial Aid International Student Services Office of the Registrar Health and Wellness Student Counseling Services and Student Success. Informs the Assistant Dean as necessary. Uses COMPASS/HOWDY to assist the OSA Program Manager with performing various functions such as running degree audits processing adds/drops recording Q-drops entering course substitutions registering students for classes and checking graduate status.
OSA Support:Collaborates and participates in all OSA hosted student events such as Pre-Orientation Orientation OSA Roundtables OSA Social Events Admission Days and Commencement. Assists the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs with updating the Student Handbook annually. Assist the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs with executing the ASPIR2E program annually (Tracks 1 2 and 3). Works in partnership with the Office of Student Affairs team to support all OSA matters.
