Overview
The Staff Nurse (GNM/BSc) plays a critical role in providing high-quality care to patients in a healthcare setting. The role of a staff nurse is not only to assist in daily patient management but also to act as an essential link between patients their families and healthcare providers. Staff nurses are responsible for implementing clinical protocols ensuring patient safety and administering medications as prescribed by physicians. They monitor patient health record vital signs and provide emotional support to patients and their families during stressful times. Moreover they contribute to the development of patient care plans and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive treatment. This role demands a balance of clinical knowledge compassion and dedication which is vital for improving patient outcomes and enhancing overall healthcare standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform patient assessments and evaluations to determine the healthcare needs.
- Administer medications and manage IV therapies as prescribed.
- Monitor and record patients vital signs and clinical data.
- Assist physicians in medical examinations and procedures.
- Develop and implement individualized nursing care plans.
- Educate patients and families on health management and treatment options.
- Coordinate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with legal standards.
- Provide emotional support and counseling for patients and their families.
- Adhere to strict infection control and safety protocols.
- Participate in patient discharge planning and follow-up care.
- Conduct routine check-ups and preventive healthcare measures.
- Manage medical supplies and equipment effectively.
- Participate in training and mentoring of junior nursing staff.
- Assist in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse with a General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc) degree.
- Active nursing license from a recognized nursing council.
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Ability to work shifts including night and weekend duties.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations and ethical standards.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient in emergency situations.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) is a plus.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
