We are seeking a dependable and proactive Non-Residential Caretaker with a strong understanding of health and safety procedures and cleaning standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean safe and well-presented environment in and around assigned buildings. This position requires self-motivation reliability and the ability to work independently.
Perform routine cleaning caretaking and basic maintenance duties in communal and external areas.
Use cleaning agents and materials safely and effectively in line with COSHH regulations.
Conduct regular health and safety checks and report hazards damages or maintenance needs.
Unlock and lock premises as required including securing the site at the end of each shift.
Ensure outdoor areas are clean clear of debris and safe for use (e.g. leaf sweeping litter picking gritting in icy weather).
Respond to urgent cleaning or caretaking needs such as spillages or safety risks.
Monitor cleaning supplies and request stock replenishment when necessary.
Work collaboratively with site teams and report any safeguarding or security concerns.
Follow site-specific protocols and complete tasks within agreed timescales.

Minimum 6 months of experience in a similar caretaking or facilities role
Knowledge of Health & Safety and COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) procedures
Ability to work independently follow instructions and manage daily tasks without supervision
Good communication skills and a professional approach to duties
Reliability punctuality and a strong work ethic
Previous experience working in a residential school or public-facing environment
Basic maintenance or DIY skills
Familiarity with safeguarding procedures (training can be provided)
