Job Description


Our client is launching a major initiative to replace its 24-year-old legacy PeopleSoft Financials system with a modern Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform. This role is for a senior-level Project Manager to lead the entire ERP modernization effort from early planning to vendor coordination implementation and go-live.

While public sector experience is beneficial the priority is deep ERP experience particularly with financial systems on a large scale.

This is a hybrid role requiring at least two days on site per week with flexibility for additional on-site days during critical phases (e.g. vendor presence or go-live).

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the full project lifecycle for the ERP implementation

  • Oversee requirements gathering planning execution and delivery

  • Serve as the central liaison among business stakeholders IT teams and external implementation partners

  • Manage vendor relationships contract deliverables and implementation timelines

  • Coordinate testing training data migration and change management activities

  • Ensure compliance with agency and Commonwealth project governance and procurement standards

  • Monitor risk resolve issues and provide regular updates to executive leadership



Requirements

Required / Desired Skills and Experience

  • 10 years of progressive experience in IT project management with 5 years managing high-risk high-budget ($XXM) IT projects

  • Proven experience with large-scale ERP or financial software implementation projects

  • Understanding of governmental accounting practices (preferred)

  • Expertise in project management methodologies: Agile Scrum SAFe Waterfall and hybrid models

  • Active PMP certification (upload copy under Reference Tab)

  • Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project Jira ServiceNow Planview

Desired:

  • Executive-level communication and negotiation skills

  • Strong political acumen and ability to navigate state agency landscapes

  • High-level problem-solving and decision-making abilities

  • Demonstrated success managing multi-agency and multi-vendor environments

  • Deep understanding of state procurement processes and contract negotiation

  • Ability to lead teams through transformational change and modernization initiatives

  • Familiarity with IT governance frameworks (e.g. ITIL COBIT)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience replacing PeopleSoft Financials

  • Background in public sector or government ERP initiatives

  • PMP or equivalent project management certification

  • Experience with budget oversight procurement documentation and compliance audits
