Job Description

PROFILE INTRODUCTION

Our client is a reputable law firm based in Nairobi known for its depth of expertise in litigation dispute resolution and advisory services. With a strong focus on professionalism integrity and client service the firm handles a wide range of contentious matters across civil commercial employment and constitutional law.


As part of its continued growth the firm is looking to recruit an Associate Advocate to join the litigation and disputes team. This role is ideal for a dynamic legal professional with at least three years of post-admission experience in litigation who brings not only technical capability but also a strong work ethic positive attitude and genuine passion for advocacy and courtroom practice.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Case Preparation & Management

Prepare pleadings witness statements affidavits submissions legal opinions and other litigation documents across a broad spectrum of practice areas.

Conduct in-depth legal research on case law statutes and legal precedents to support case strategy and argumentation.

Manage litigation files including tracking deadlines updating case logs and compiling court bundles for internal and external use.

Assist in drafting correspondence to clients opposing counsel government bodies and regulatory agencies.

2. Court and Tribunal Representation

Represent clients at all levels of court tribunals and alternative dispute resolution forums including arbitration and mediation.

Handle mentions hearings applications and trials either independently or under the supervision of the Senior Partner.

Liaise with court staff judicial officers and external counsel to follow up on case progression and ensure timely filings.

3. Client Engagement and Relationship Management

Attend client meetings to gather instructions provide legal updates and guide clients through litigation processes.

Draft and review engagement letters client updates and advisory notes.

Maintain confidentiality professionalism and a client-centred approach in all interactions.

4. Internal Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing

Collaborate with other associates partners and legal assistants on shared matters to promote efficiency and teamwork.

Participate in internal training sessions case reviews and continuous learning forums organized by the firm.

Support junior team members by reviewing drafts offering feedback and sharing insights from previous litigation experience.

5. Compliance Ethics and Professional Development

Ensure all work is done in compliance with the firm s internal procedures professional standards and statutory obligations.

Stay updated on developments in civil commercial and constitutional law to maintain current and relevant legal knowledge.

Pursue continuous professional development through training seminars and participation in industry events.



Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) from a recognized university.

Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.

Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practising certificate.

Minimum of 3 years post-admission experience in litigation and dispute resolution.

Demonstrated experience managing litigation files preparing court documents and representing clients in judicial and quasi-judicial forums.

Strong legal writing analytical and interpersonal skills.

A passion for litigation and a proactive solutions-oriented mindset.
