Position will support the City Administrators Office in the completion of grant work related to climate change environmental hazards resilience and related impacts on communities within Oakland. The City Administrators Office provides strategic leadership that supports the Mayor City Council and City-wide Departments; the Office motivates and challenges the organization to deliver efficient and effective services toward equitable outcomes in the community.



We are looking for someone who is:


  • Adept at providing high levels of organization and data management strongly analytical and effective at managing complex work.
  • Capable of providing written and verbal presentations to support engagement and information sharing with community residents colleagues and elected officials.
  • Knowledgeable of neighborhood issues in Oakland particularly in frontline communities adversely affected by environmental and social inequity.
  • Collaborative and team-oriented in their approach to problem solving developing solutions and building community capacity to address urban challenges.
  • Strong in their attention to detail in the performance of duties including grant writing and reporting information sharing with colleagues and engagement with community members.
What you will typically be responsible for:

  • Implementing tracking reporting on and sharing information regarding grant programs.
  • Conducting analysis writing reports engaging residents and participating in meetings and forums to further work efforts.
  • Providing timely and accurate information and coordinating of efforts to keep grant-funded projects on track for performance requirements.
  • Effectively working with impacted community residents and groups to understand community priorities and integrate local needs into processes strategies and outcomes.
  • Coordinating with colleagues at the City of Oakland and Port of Oakland on related aspects of project performance including coordination with ongoing efforts such as the Citys General Plan Update and implementation of the Equitable Climate Action Plan.
  • Effectively coordinating and allocating budget preparing summary spreadsheets processing invoices and accounts and performing related budget tasks to ensure that project spending is appropriate and justified.

Minimum Requirements for Application

The following qualifications are guidelines as the appointing authority has broad discretion in filling positions in this classification.

Education:
Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration economics accounting or related field. A Masters degree is desirable.

Experience:
Three years of experience performing progressively responsible administrative work.

  • Dental: Delta Dental full premium for employees and eligible dependents
  • Vision: VSP full premium for employees and eligible dependents
  • Sick leave: Employees accrue 12 days per year
  • Deferred Compensation: 457(b) pre-tax plan and an after-tax ROTH 401(k)plan
  • Other benefits include a Flexible Spending Account Wellness Program Employee Assistance Program Tuition Reimbursement Life Insurance up to $200k & Employee Training.

Disaster Service Workers
All employees are designated Disaster Service Workers through state and local law. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.
