Job Description
Provide Hazardous Waste Technician Support to Base Kodiak AK. Assist with management of the hazardous waste accumulation storage and disposal program at Base Kodiak. This includes waste generated by the Contractor and the Government. Base Kodiak is regulated as a Large Quantity Generator (LQG) by hazardous waste regulations and operates an EPA permitted Treatment Storage and Disposal Facility (TSDF) (commonly referred to as the Hazardous Waste Storage Building HWSB). shall have a experience managing hazardous waste and meet the requirements outlined in Base Kodiaks RCRA permit. Initiating the transport of the Bases waste to HWSB to comply with 40 CFR 262 and Base Kodiaks RCRA Permit. Collecting and Transporting of Hazardous Waste/Regulated Waste to the HWSB. Verifying the accuracy and completeness of DD1149 documents as well as signing the DD1149 upon receipt of waste. Maintaining appropriate transport documents (1149). Replacing and collecting WAA container accumulation log sheets (Government and Contractor WAA sites) when applicable. Consolidating packaging and reorganization of regulated waste at the HWSB Inspecting the HWSB areas for evidence of spills while performing tasks. Reporting evidence of spills to HWSB operations manager and clean up spills leaks and stains. Housekeeping and maintaining clean and orderly storage areas waste processing areas and containment sumps. The Contractor shall sweep floors weekly mop floors monthly and remove rain or snow melt water from containment sumps.
Assisting with Waste Disposal and Recycling. Organizing Defense Logistics Agency Disposition Services (DLA DS) waste containers and forklift to tail gate of transport vehicle. Emptying drum recycling. This includes picking up empty drums rinsing drums decommissioning empty drums or rendering drums unusable and delivering to a recycling facility. Sampling and analysis of regulated waste which includes instances where turnaround time requirements are expedited from the standard identified. Maintaining equipment inventory including containers and sampling kits.
Qualifications :
- High School Diploma
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience in duties of Hazardous Waste.
- 40 Hour Hazwoper (or 8 Hour refresher) required
- Requires the manual lifting of up to 80 pounds
- Familiarity with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) requirements.
- Hazardous Material Shipping Training and 3 year refresher.
- RCRA Waste Management Certification.
- Forklift Operator Certification.
- Familiarity of Hazardous Waste Storage Building (HWSB).
- Respiratory Protection Certification.
- Hazard Communication Certification.
Additional Information :
- Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible to work on Government contracts.
- Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
