WHATS THE JOB
Were looking for a motivated quality-driven Dietary Aide to join our team at the Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife. The Dietary Aide is responsible for providing a variety of duties related to the preparation of patient meals and snacks the service of foods and the routine cleaning of food services areas in accordance with the policies of the facility and applicable legislation.
Your work will include:
- Assist with food/meal production
- Prepare trays/plates and/or distribute the patient and client meals and snacks according to the diet list/individual diet menus and the patient preferences
- Prepare nourishments and carts for service
- Prepare supplements and thickening fluids for texture-altered diets
- Follow each patient/client plan of care and communicate any discrepancies to the supervisor in a prompt manner
- Prepare/sanitize tables and serving areas for meal services
- Maintain a sanitary and clean working environment in line with infection control techniques
- Maintains food handling protocols and infection control practices in keeping with public health practice and applicable legislation
- Transport dishes to/from patient rooms and kitchen.
- Complete the daily and deep cleaning and sanitizing of dishes utensils glassware and equipment used for patient meal preparation delivery and service
- Receive store and manage the inventory of patient and food service supplies
- Ensure good personal hygiene with a neat and clean appearance and in accordance with the dress code for the department as per policy such as safe foot attire hair net uniform etc.
- Follow and meet all pre-determined work routines and schedules
- Follow cleaning schedule and sanitation guidelines
- Carry out all other job-related duties that contribute to the team approach of patient and client care as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications :
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
- Completion of a Baccalaureate Program in Dietetics from a recognized university program and full registrant status with the Dietitians of Canada
- Baccalaureate from an accredited University with a major in Human Nutritional Sciences or equivalent
- Registered Dietitian; must be a registered member of the Dietitians of Canada
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and healthcare professionals
- Knowledge of human nutrition menu planning principles and practices
- Dietetic Internship Certificate from an accredited program
- One year clinical nutrition experience in an acute care hospital preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Dietitian or in a nutrition related profession.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office Synergy or other menu planning programs
