CareerCenter Consultants provide employment services to individuals and employers/businesses. Responsibilities include assisting in creating and reactivating employer accounts in accordance with State and Federal guidelines referring customers to programs and services managing caseloads of foreign labor applications processing foreign labor seasonal job orders to include Notice of Deficiencies Notice of Acceptances certifications withdrawals and denials auditing employer accounts facilitating in employment and training-related workshops assisting with housing inspections and post-certificate inspections around the state assisting job seekers and employers in troubleshooting their Maine JobLink Accounts. Work may also include providing business services to Maine employers including recruitment and training assistance.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Contact and consult with employers to assist with workforce needs including recruitment training and retention and connect business to available services.
  • Analyze identify and assess employers and businesses employment needs to respond to labor market workforce needs by conducting research and learning about an industrys practices to identify barriers that applicants may face and work with the employer to address them.
  • Analyze foreign labor applications identify for complaint language and/or deficiencies and process once approved.
  • Conduct housing inspections and post certification inspections for temporary seasonal housing across the state.
  • Conduct training in employment services and foreign labor applications and services.
  • Participate in informational sessions job fairs and trade shows to create public awareness.

  • Ability to observe and evaluate individual characteristics capabilities and interests in terms of their occupational significance.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to write clearly and effectively.

Minimum qualifications:

Any combination of education and/or work experience that demonstrates competency in:

  • Interpersonal Skills: Shows understanding friendliness courtesy tact empathy concern and politeness to others; develops and maintains effective relationships with others; may include effectively working with individuals who are difficult hostile or distressed; relates well to people from varied backgrounds and different situations; is sensitive to cultural diversity race gender disabilities and other individual differences effectively communicates and works with coworkers as team members.
  • Customer/Quality Skills: Anticipates monitors and meets the needs of customers and responds to them in an effective appropriate manner. Demonstrates commitment to identifying customers apparent and underlying needs and continually seeks to provide the highest quality service and product to all customers.
  • Accountability Skills: Holdsself accountablefor measurable high-quality timely and cost-effective results. Determines objectives and sets priorities. Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions. Accountable to own development including learning necessary job knowledge and associated laws rules and policies. Identifies and participates in learning opportunities. Complies with established control systems and rules.
  • Planning/Organization Skills:Organizes work sets priorities and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals for self and strategies to achieve them. Using flexibility and resiliency skills appropriately and effectively adjusts work plans and priorities to changing circumstances. Monitors own progress and evaluates outcomes.

Preference will be given to those applicants:

  • Experience providing information and guidance.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with workforce development resources.
  • Knowledge of Foreign Labor regulations.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
