Job Duties
Reporting to the Executive Director for Housing & Residence Life the Associate Director for Residence Education will ensure a highly engaging intentional residential experience in an environment that fosters curiosity and learning centers well-being and provides support to help students enhance their personal growth and development. Provides overall leadership to the residence life team and administrative functions of the residence life operation. Coordinates with the Area Coordinator for Staff Development and Training to ensure recruitment selection professional development and performance management of professional and student staff. Ensures implementation of a dynamic intentional and impactful program model for the ultimate residential experience; oversee collaborative inter-unit events (when applicable) as well as departmental signature engagement events; and ensures program calendar is distributed at the beginning of each semester; ensures student staff desk schedules are posted monthly and follows up with Area Coordinators Graduate Assistants and Resident Directors on their 1:1 meeting with the AD or with their respective student staff member or residents; ensures meetings and notes are scheduled and conducted in a timely well-organized manner. Hires and trains academic initiatives program coordinators and tutors designs and oversees implementation of programs within the residential communities based on the Division of Student Affairs KPIs divisional and departmental goals and ensure the program model fully integrates active leadership civility inclusion and excellence. This position will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to build community and ensure students have the optimum residential experience.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of a comprehensive college student housing program including residence life housing conference and student conduct practices. Familiarity with student affairs practices and student development theories. Excellent written and verbal communication skills exceptional interpersonal/human relations skills and excellent organizational/planning skills. Must be able to prioritize workloads handle multiple tasks simultaneously be able to work a flexible schedule and must have excellent personal computer skills. This multifaceted role can be stressful and at times the individual must be able to function under intense pressure. Prior supervisory experience required.
Additional Considerations
Education Experience Licensure or Certification required for entry into position: Possession of Counseling Psychology Student Personnel Education or a student affairs field is strongly preferred. Prior training or certification in incident response sexual assault response and referral and crisis management is also strongly preferred.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a masters degree in counseling Psychology Student Personnel Education or a student affairs field. Must have a minimum of one 2 4 years supervisory experience of fulltime staff and at least one years experience implementing programs grounded in a student development theoretical foundation. Previous supervisory experience as a Resident Hall Director or Graduate Assistant in residence life is strongly preferred.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: A masters degree in counseling Psychology Student Personnel Education or a student affairs field. A minimum of two four years supervisory experience within a college student housing environment strongly preferred
