Sofidel America of Duluth is currently seeking an Assistant Converting Production Manager. The Duluth location is undergoingrapid expansion making it an exciting time to join our are currently seeking a team member to join our Converting department to support Converting Operations. This role is a key player in our growth journey as well as our leadership group. This role will also work closely with our Production Engineers and our Operations team members.
Scope
The Assistant Converting Production Manager works in conjunction with the Production Manager and is the immediate back-up for this position. This role assumes responsibility and full accountability for production employees and manufacturing assets to deliver acceptable results in terms of safety quality and productivity. As a critical member of the Operations team this role continuously supports Sofidels Employee Personal Practice Policy.
Job Responsibilities

- Maintain a safe work area and comply with safety procedures and equipment operating rules keeping work area in a clean and orderly condition.
- Supports Sofidel Americas Good Manufacturing Practice and HACCP to promote a safe sanitary and hygienically sound workplace.
- Support quality housekeeping and sanitation standards as well as ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Set priorities and schedule manufacturing processes. Verify equipment KPI reporting.
- Identify and report operational and maintenance issues to avoid production delays.
- Schedule routine inspections and maintenance on production equipment to avoid equipment breakdowns and malfunctions.
- Make certain that all tools materials and supplies are always accessible to carry out production processes.
- Assist in interviewing hiring and training new employees.
- Manage employee performance reviews evaluations and promotions.
- Manage employee corrective action process in coordination with Human Resources.
- Analyze resource requirements and work allocation for production operations.
- Improve productivity efficiency and waste management through analysis development and implementation.
- Control and reduce labor costs including overtime and temporary labor by managing the process of scheduling employee work hours.
- Initiate and implement improvement plans when repetitive problems exist.
- Work closely with the Manager and the Quality Department to improve productivity quality and efficiency.
- Perform or assist with any operations as required to maintain workflow to meet schedules and quality requirements. Notify supervision of unusual equipment or operating problems and the need for additional material and supplies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- An Associate or Bachelors degree is preferred.
- 3-5 years of related work experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
- Previous management or leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows Word Excel and Outlook.
- Have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of SAP preferred
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and quality and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add subtract multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.

Work Environment
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required when in the plant and warehouse areas. PPE will include safety shoes eye and ear protection reflective vests and hats along with any other necessary protection. Temperatures in the plant/warehouse can range a great deal from season to season. The employee will be exposed to considerable paper dust and employees will also be exposed to noise levels that will require hearing protection.
