Salary: $62.82 to $69.73 per hour 4 step progression; Bargaining Unit
Installs commissions maintains and removes equipment cables and connections on the Avista production Networks. Examples of networkequipmentinclude but are not limited to; switches routers modems remote terminal units microwave wireless terminal serversWAN optimizers load balancers virtual private networksand time division multiplexing (TDM). Examples of cables include but are not limited to; fiber optic low voltage metallic and coaxial. Investigates and facilitates mitigation of radio frequency interference complaints. May work collaboratively with Engineering and other departments or employees to develop configure troubleshoot install and complete other related tasks on the Network Systems. Production and/or lab environment testing may be performed on network components. This is the lowest of a multi-step career ladder progression.
This position is instrumental in maintaining the reliability of systems used to ensure the safety of Avistas employees and customers. Therefore a positive safety culture is a primary focus for this position.
Requirements
Requires successful completion of a Network Technician apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience in the installation and maintenance of network equipment cables and connections. Requires Commercial Class A drivers license and Washington State Low Voltage Communication license or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of placement in classification. Must demonstrate work management skills and excellent communication skills in a cross-functional team environment. Must demonstrate analytical problem solving skills and be process oriented with a clear understanding of the value delivered by maintaining technology platforms up to the current standards. Other combinations of education/experience may be considered.
This classification is subject to the 25 mile and/or 30-minute residency requirement until such time as negotiated otherwise by the parties.
