Description:
Native Computing Units (NPUs) from leverage light to enable ultra-fast and energy-efficient computation. By using photons instead of electrons NPUs can significantly accelerate operations like matrixvector multiplications which are at the core of many HPC and AI applications. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research at the intersection of high-performance computing (HPC) artificial intelligence (AI) and photonic hardware. The student will be part of a research team exploring how NPUs can enhance computational performance helping to develop benchmark and optimize AI and HPC applications for next-generation computing platforms.
Your Role and Responsibilities:
- Support development of benchmarks run benchmarks and profile parallel applications on NPUs using MPI
- Take part in project meetings contribute to technical discussions help contributing to the report with evaluation results
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science Computer Engineering or a closely related field
- Current enrolled in Masters program in Computer Science or a related discipline
- Proficiency in C/C and Python programming languages
- Background in parallel computing and HPC systems
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Message Passing Interface (MPI) framework
- Understanding of AI/ML principles and common libraries or frameworks
- Previous involvement in academic writing
