Description
  • Position Summary

The Laboratory Technician II provides hands-on analytical support for plant operations and oversees all laboratory activities during the assigned shift. Youll ensure compliant accurate and timely testing of inbound in-process and outbound materials support safe waste-stream disposition and uphold Clean Harbors industry-leading safety and quality standards.

Hours: 8am-4:30pm M-F No weekends.

Wage: $31hr.

OT Optional 4-8 hours a week covers for extra workload

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

Proficiency with GC PCB/chlorine pH Karl Fischer water ICP metals viscometry pour-point particle count and Noack volatility analyses.

Working knowledge of ISO quality systems and statistical process control.

Strong data-analysis documentation and computer skills (MS Office LIMS ERP).

Clear written and verbal communication; able to convey technical concepts to plant staff and customers.

Ability to work independently prioritize multiple tasks and supervise a small team.

Keen attention to detail and commitment to producing defensible data.

Physical & Work-Environment Requirements

Medium-work classification: lift/carry 25 lb frequently 50 lb occasionally.

Stand/walk roughly 8 hours per shift with frequent bending climbing and use of forklifts or company vehicles.

Ability to wear a respirator and tolerate loud industrial environments and chemical exposure while using appropriate PPE.

< 10 % travel.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Perform and sign off on inbound in-process and outbound sample analyses.

Conduct routine tank analyses to confirm products meet specifications.

Review analytical data determine proper waste-stream disposition and record results in LIMS.

Operate troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on GC ICP Karl Fischer viscometers and other instruments.

Maintain exemplary housekeeping and laboratory organization.

Execute special projects that support plant and laboratory operations.

Prepare standards reagents and chromatography columns for analytical work.

Train laboratory personnel on analytical methods and SOPs.

Lead and coach shift technicians to sustain productivity and a safety-first culture.

Use digital tools for scheduling purchasing sample tracking and data storage.

Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Required: High-school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of college-level chemistry or related technical training.

Preferred: Associate degree (or higher) in Chemistry Environmental Science or a closely related field.

35 years of industrial environmental or petrochemical laboratory experience using GC ICP Karl Fischer and petroleum physical-property methods.
