Job Description

The State of Montana has a decentralized human resources (HR) system. Each agency is responsible for its own recruitment and selection. What are we looking for
Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma and one or more years of experience in various aspects of landscape snow removal and machinery maintenance. OR
  • Alternate combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Competencies:

Knowledge of:

  • Landscaping and ornamental turf
  • Snow removal
  • Irrigation systems
  • Techniques for trimming shrubbery and trees

Ability to:

  • Deliver professional customer service
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Operate machinery heavy equipment and hand tools (such as backhoes dump trucks plows electric saws chain saws and soil tillers)
  • Recognize the importance of safety in the workplace follow safety rules practice safe work habits utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions
  • Communicate effectively and professionally
  • Adapt to change
  • Identify and resolve problems within areas of responsibility

What is this career opportunity
General Services is seeking an energetic service-oriented individual to join their team to help keep the Capitol Complex looking beautiful! You would work in the Capitol Facilities Management Bureau of GSD with our team of 8 Landscape Technicians. Your work would change with the seasons and would include mowing plowing tending flower and landscape beds working with irrigation systems applying chemicals and fertilizers following safety procedures and operating and caring for a wide range of power equipment and machinery. and more! We are looking for someone with landscape experience described above. However if you are a dedicated hardworking individual with exceptional soft skills and an ability to learn we are willing to teach you and help you grow into this role.

Please be aware that this position is a regular full time year-round position and requires an on-call status for snow removal from November 1 through April 1. Also there is a career ladder associated with this position which provides additional pay opportunities.
