As the Materials Manager on 1st Shift youll lead a dedicated team of Team Leaders and hourly materials team members to support production and drive continuous improvement across Safety Quality Delivery and Cost. This is your opportunity to coach and empower others while making a meaningful impact on plant performance and team culture.Lead and support the materials team on 1st shift to ensure effective production support and smooth material flow.
Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing and quality teams to reduce downtime improve ergonomics and minimize scrap.
Drive a problem-solving culture by empowering your team to identify root causes implement solutions and escalate when necessary.
Champion the GE Production System and Lean methodologies to eliminate waste and improve key business metrics.
Coach team leaders and develop hourly team members to foster engagement clear communication and consistent execution of standard work.
Promote and model a strong safety culture. Lead timely investigations enforce compliance and drive initiatives that improve safety performance and reduce incidents.
Use data and tools (Oracle Proficy) to proactively resolve part and scheduling issues.
Improve quality and reduce costs through smart planning and effective leadership of VCP (Variable Cost Productivity) initiatives.
Required:
2 years of experience in a manufacturing or operations environment including project implementation and supplier management
Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate across functions including union environments
Solid organizational and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to leadership
Effective communication interpersonal and facilitation skills
High energy drive and a continuous improvement mindset
Preferred:
Bachelors degree
Six Sigma certification and Lean Manufacturing experience
Leadership experience in a unionized manufacturing setting
Track record of delivering results through team-based initiatives and performance improvements
