Description of Work

This Role Is Eligible To Be Hybrid And Requires Onsite Reporting Located Within Raleigh NC

This Position Is Funded In Part Through Federal Funds.

The Claims Processor Team Lead is located in the Division of Services for the Blind (DSB) Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Services (DVRS) and Division of Services for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DSDHH) Claims Processing Unit within the DHHS Office of the Controller (OoC). This position provides lead-level accounting support including reviewing and processing payment requests auditing program expenditures and interpreting fiscal policies. As the units lead worker the position also provides training to other claim processors and resolves technical issues.

This role contributes to the efficiency of the Claims Processing Unit and supports the accurate administration of public assistance programs. The work involves financial system entries direct vendor interactions and resolution of discrepancies across accounting subsystems. This role ensures that payment transactions comply with established rules and procedures to maintain accountability within the departments financial operations.

Key Duties Include:

  • Lead and train claims processors on reimbursement systems and policies.

  • Submit federal cash requisition requests using financial software and spreadsheets.

  • Resolve payment errors and complete journal entries in the NC Financial System (NCFS).

  • Audit vendor claims for compliance with Medicaid Medicare and NCTracks regulations.

  • Add and verify vendor records in NCAS and ESS ensuring accurate tax and address data.

  • Issue stop payments and process cancellations using Core Banking tools.

  • Coordinate with Cost Allocation team on reporting requirements and documentation.

  • Process credit memos direct invoices and year-end accrual entries.

  • Prepare review and correct 1099 tax documents as needed.

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for implementation of new accounting subsystems.
