Job Description
Means Engineering is looking to hire a Quality Assurance Inspector to join our team.
Under direct supervision this position is responsible for conducting receiving inspection in-process inspection final inspection and shipping inspection to ensure compliance with customer requirements and quality standards. The Quality Assurance Inspectoris expected to be proficient in quality inspection fordepartments including shipping/receiving machine shop weld shop and electro-mechanical.
Essential Functions:
- Plan and perform detailed inspections of materials parts and assemblies using precision measuring equipment such as calipers micrometers dial indicators depth gages optical comparators height gages surface plate and digital/automated inspection devices.
- Document all inspection results per company policies and requirements in the ERP system. Follow all requirements of company quality management system including ISO9001 AS9100 and ISO13485 requirements
- Performs receiving inspection in-process inspection final inspection and shipping inspection to ensure quality and conformance to customer specifications IPC Standards (such as but not limited to: J-STD-001 IPC-A-600 IPC-A-610 IPC-7711/21B and/or IPC/WHMA-A-620.
- Works from engineering drawings work instructions and standard inspection directives and procedures
- Inspection may include confirming specifications against customer requirements checking paperwork including certifications and/or drawings conducting visual and measurement tests rejecting non-conforming material returning products for re-work confirming re-work checking paperwork and quantity of product to be shipped and providing material certs and first article inspection reports for shipping as specified
- Performs First Article Inspections and generates First Article Inspection reports in accordance with AS 9102 (SAE Aerospace Standard for the First Article Inspection).
- May participate in the Material Review Board; inspects material being reviewed; transacts Non-Conforming Material Reports; completes and scans Defective Material Reports (DMR)
- Transports material and parts to and from various work centers to perform quality inspection
- Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing events.
- Observe all laws regulations and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the company
Education Experience and Skills:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality assurance functions related to inspection
- Basic understanding of IPC 600 IPC 610 and IPC 620 standards
- Basic understanding of JSTD-001 standards
- Proficient in basic math; knowledge of geometry and GD&T
- Training and experience in mechanical inspection to ANSI standards
- Strong English communication skills. Must be able to create and write clear and detailed records and documents.
- Good computer skills including Microsoft Office and must be able to learn and work within ERP system
- Able to learn and use precision measurement equipment including calipers micrometers dial indicators depth gages optical comparators height gages surface plate CMM and digital/automated inspection devices
- Ability to run the CMM unassisted for low-complexity parts
- Previous experience with ISO9001 AS9100 ISO13485 ISO14001 and ITAR requirements is desired
- Ability to work independently stay focused and perform in a fast-paced and deadline driven environment
- Good analytical and problem solving skills as well as a keen attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills are necessary to enable individual to work with all positions and personalities
- Able to read and interpret prints and drawings
Physical Demands:
The physical requirements for this position involve frequently remaining in a stationary position (sitting or standing) and frequently moving throughout all work centers. This position frequently lifts or carries 10lbs or less occasionally lifts or carries object weighing 11-25lbs and occasionally lifts 26-50lbs with assistance. This position occasionally reaches over head to move or measure product. This position requires the continuous use of hands/arms to operate a computer and to place and inspect material. This position continuously exchanges information with supervisors and coworkers regarding tasks and product. This position must be able to read drawings and work instructions and perceive color and fine detail.
Compensation Range:
$23.00 - $27.00 per hour
