Job Description

Interim Building Principal2025-2026 School YearLocation: Winthrop SchoolPosition Type: Interim (One-Year Appointment)Start Date: ASAPEnd Date: June 30 2026The Ipswich Public Schools seeks a dynamic collaborative and visionary educator to serve as Interim Principal of Winthrop School for theschool year. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a vibrant and inclusive school community committed to the academic and social-emotional growth of all School is a community of learners inspired to act with compassion integrity and joy. The ideal candidate will reflect and champion these values while providing strong instructional leadership and fostering a safe nurturing and equitable learning responsibilities include:Educational Leadership:Lead stakeholders in articulating and advancing the schools vision and missionEncourage and support innovation in teaching and learningHold staff accountable for high expectations for all studentsParticipate actively in the districts leadership teamModel integrity and promote a culture of respect and equityOversee implementation of district policies and state regulationsCollaborate with the school council on the annual school improvement planPromote a safe inclusive school climate that supports uninterrupted learningCelebrate the successes of students staff and the broader school communityFoster student engagement across academics the arts clubs and serviceCurriculum and Instruction:Champion effective instructional practices and active learningSupport curriculum planning evaluation and vertical/horizontal alignmentWork closely with the Directors of Teaching & Learning and Special Education to ensure supports for all studentsPromote professional collaboration and teacher leadershipGuide assessment practices and use data to inform instructionEncourage thoughtful integration of instructional technologyOrganizational Leadership:Hire supervise and evaluate school staff in alignment with district practicesPromote collaborative inclusive decision-makingOversee building operations and ensure a safe well-maintained environmentPrepare and manage the school budget with fiscal responsibilityCommunicate clearly respectfully and responsively with all stakeholdersSchool and Community Relations:Establish strong trusting relationships with families and caregiversEngage community partners to support student learning and wellnessCommunicate the schools vision programs and successes with clarity and transparencyCreate inclusive spaces for family and community involvementQualifications:Masters degree in Educational Leadership or related fieldMassachusetts Principal/Assistant Principal license (PreK6)Minimum 10 years of experience in education with 5 in leadership rolesDemonstrated commitment to equity student well-being and continuous improvementStrong interpersonal organizational and communication skills
