Guaranteed Hours Contract (minimum of 20 hours in academic year 2025-26)
Fixed term: Up to 4 years
Applications are invited for tutors within the School of Mathematics. Candidates will be offered a guaranteed minimum offer of hours and these roles require in person attendance on campus.These posts are only available to those who will be current PhD students within the School of Mathematics in September 2025.
In this role you will facilitate the provision of small group workshop-style sessions while also supporting a range of other elements of teaching and technical demonstrator support. You will have excellent communication skills the capability to facilitate and lead student groups and other relevant teaching skills.
The School of Mathematics has a well-developed and exciting portfolio of programmes operating across the mathematical sciences and at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. The portfolio aims to educate students in mathematics and essential skills in critical thinking and data analysis which are critical to employability for our graduates.

Typically we require more tutors for our pre-Honours (year 1 and 2) courses and so role holders should expect to be involved in provision in those courses. We also have particular needs in courses in data science programming statistics and probability.

Candidates will have a sufficient understanding of the topics under discussion in the courses and programmes that they are interested in working on along with the relevant technical knowledge and skills for those courses and programmes.
As well as being a PhD student within the School of Mathematics the successful candidates should also be able to demonstrate the skills required to facilitate workshop provision within the School of Mathematics (relevant training will be provided). This may include:
