There is one Full-Time permanent Maintenance Building Operator Benjamin Road position available starting on July 14 2025 working 37.5 hours per week.
Your Role:
Provides facility support to multiple Agency locations throughout Waterloo Region by providing a clean safe and comfortable environment. Controls monitors and maintains building environmental equipment life safety systems building components equipment furnishings vehicles and grounds. Works in alignment with the agencys commitment to equityand from anti-racist and anti-oppressive perspective to further create a sense of belonging at the Agency.
Tasks:
Coordination of Work:
1. Monitors daily operation of building systems and equipment.
2. Performs preventive maintenance within code limitations.
3. Prioritizes and completes corrective maintenance work requests.
4.Assists in overseeing the work of summer students volunteers outside contractors and trades people.
Repair and Maintenance:
5. Repairs and services building surfaces furnishings including painting and providing minor carpentry repairs.
6. Examines the operation and maintenance of boilers burners heating pipe systems and plumbing details.
7.Assists with fire prevention and alarm systems.
8.Maintains air handling systems and component parts.
9. Maintains plumbing electrical HVAC door roof and window systems.
10.Performs checks on equipment vehicles and fire safety items.
11. Sets up and takes down tables chairs and other props for events and meetings.
12. Maintains and stays in compliance with pool gas and electrical regulations.
13. Monitors and manages property including woodlot and ensures grounds are safe for staff and clients.
14. Uses gas-powered chainsaw to clear debris as needed.
Administration:
14. Makes recommendations for equipment repair and replacement.
15. Conducts and maintains an up-to-date inventory of supplies
16. Purchases supplies for operating equipment and making repairs in consultation with Manager.
18. Completes purchase orders for maintenance purchases with various vendors and submits for approval.
Your Talents and Experience:
High school graduation with knowledge of hand and power equipment. Certification required in one of the skilled trades certified building operator maintenance mechanic. Ability to perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks using hand tools and power equipment. Minimum of 3 years of successful experience of maintenance work in a commercial industrial educational or institutional setting. Ability to prioritize tasks meet deadlines problem solve and work independently and as part of a multiservice delivery team. Some knowledge of plants and trees is an asset. Working at Heights training an asset. Pool Operator certification an asset. Ability to relate well with people Passionate aware and willing to learn about equity antiracism and anti-oppression and to embed anti-racist anti-oppressive practices into the role. Ability to communicate with people and be open to direction. A passion for excellence in customer service. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
