The Product Procurement Engineer (PPE) plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our procurement strategies. This position is integral to the design of an optimized Supplier Network which is essential for integrating Product Group value chain strategies with Design Engineering technical requirements and Procurement Category strategies. The PPE leads a cross-functional team that includes Suppliers Supplier Development Engineers (SDEs) Category Buyers and Engineering Value Chain designers.

The primary goal is to ensure that part-level collaboration and development are completed on time within budget and with the highest quality standards. The focus areas for this role include Product Quality Supplier Response Time Component Availability and Total Cost of Ownership.

In this role the PPE will specifically work for aftermarket parts and Engineered to Order for Electric Rope Shoves Draglines and Hydraulic Mining Shovels. The main responsibility involves collaborating with Value Chain teams Product Design Engineering Product Support and Resource Industries Supply Management (RISM) to design and optimize supplier network in support of Engineered to Order.

The PPE will manage part development and quality feedback loops for New Product Introduction (NPI) Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and New Source Introduction (NSI) activities by working closely with suppliers design control engineers and category procurement teams.

A growth mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential as the PPE will contribute to building a defect-free culture within the team. The role requires managing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and cost management activities from concept to Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) to ensure that parts are delivered at the right quality and total cost while meeting timelines.

This involves collaboration with various functional areas including packaging transportation and supply chain. The PPE will also implement product supply strategies that align with category management supply strategies creating a competitive advantage for our customers by developing and optimizing a world-class supply network. Additionally the PPE will drive Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) initiatives through cost modeling and design for manufacturability leveraging suppliers capabilities to enhance product quality and reduce costs.



What You Will Do:

  • Manage part development and quality feedback loops for New Product Introduction (NPI) Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and New Source Introduction (NSI) activities.
  • Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and cost management from concept through PPAP to ensure delivery of parts that meet quality cost and timeline targets.
  • Implement product supply strategies aligned with category management to develop and integrate a world-class supply network.
  • Drive Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE) through cost modeling design for manufacturability and supplier capability leverage.
  • Manage quality feedback loops to ensure lessons learned are applied across the supply base.
  • Collaborate with suppliers design control engineers value chain engineering and procurement category teams.



Degree Requirement
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering Manufacturing Engineering or Supply Chain.

Interpersonal Relationships
Collaborates across engineering supply chain and supplier teams. Builds trust and alignment through active listening empathy and shared problem-solving.

Cost-Benefit Analysis
Conducts cost-benefit analyses to support sourcing decisions VAVE initiatives and supplier transitions. Calculates ROI and NPV to justify procurement strategies.

Supplier Management Manufacturing
Manages supplier relationships to ensure quality cost and delivery targets are met. Participates in supplier selection performance reviews and issue resolution.

Strategic Sourcing
Supports strategic sourcing through market research data analysis and supplier evaluation. Contributes to continuous improvement of sourcing processes and alignment with category strategies.

Supply Chain Management
Understands supply chain systems and processes. Participates in supply chain analysis and supports integration of supplier capabilities with product and engineering requirements.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Six Sigma Greenbelt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing environments and understanding of lean principles.
  • Cost modeling experience.
  • SAP experience.
  • Professional certifications such as C.P.M. CPIM or CIRM.
  • Affiliation with ISM APICS or comparable professional organizations.
  • Background in mining or construction industries.

Summary Pay Range:

$95640.00 - $143520.00
