Job Description

The Associate Attorney is responsible for handling bankruptcy matters for the firm. They will utilize legal knowledge and experience to facilitate the bankruptcy process on behalf of our clients.

Locations:

Hybrid

  • Alexandria VA US
  • Baltimore MD US


Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Preparation review and approval of bankruptcy related pleadings.
  • Handle all aspects of bankruptcy matters including Proof of Claims Motions for Relief Objections Responses to Objections Payment Change Notices Settlements and Adversary Proceedings.
  • Participation in mediations depositions telephonic hearings in-person hearings.
  • Regular client meetings/updates.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate.
  • Licensed and in good standing with the Maryland and Virginia State Bars.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize large caseload.
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills. Effectively communicates with all clients (via client systems e-mail and phone).
  • Provides exceptional client service.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
  • Conscientious with respect to work completion deadlines time management and attendance.
  • Analytical and detail oriented while working at a fast pace and capable of multi-tasking.
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.

What are the 3-4 non-negotiable requirements of this position

  • Active licensure and good standing with the Maryland and Virginia State Bars.
  • Juris Doctorate degree.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills especially in legal documentation and client interaction.
  • Proven ability to manage a high-volume caseload efficiently and accurately.

  • What are the nice-to-have skills
  • Prior experience handling adversary proceedings payment change notices or mediation in bankruptcy cases.
  • Familiarity with client systems or legal case management tools.
  • Ability to attend in-person hearings or depositions as needed.
  • Demonstrated success working within a structured deadline-driven environment.
