Job Description

What you will do
Johnson Controls is seeking a an experienced and visionary Zero Trust Networking Staff Software Engineer to join our team and drive the technical direction of our OpenBlue Airwall Zero Trust Networking and overall communication flow between edge and cloud. This role is ideal for a hands-on for someone who excels at architecting complex systems mentoring engineers and influencing cross-functional teams. You will play a key role in setting technical standards ensuring code quality and solving high-impact technical challenges. This is a remote position for candidates based in the US.

How you will do it

  • Ensure the quality and stability of our OpenBlue Airwall product portfolio

  • Lead the development of new mechanisms for monitoring the health of data from edge to cloud

  • Contribute to key codebases and set standards for code quality testing and performance.

  • Collaborate closely with product design and engineering teams to define and deliver scalable solutions.

  • Lead architectural decisions and technical strategy across products and platforms.

  • Act as a technical mentor and role model for engineers at all levels.

  • Evaluate and recommend tools technologies and processes to ensure engineering excellence.

  • Represent engineering in executive discussions and help shape the long-term roadmap.

What you will need
Required

  • 5 years of software engineering experience

  • Proven experience designing and scaling distributed systems or complex software architectures.

  • Deep expertise in Ruby C .

  • Experience working in Linux especially in a constrained / embedded environment

  • Experience working with Kubernetes

  • Experience working throughout the networking stack

  • Strong mentoring skills communication and global cross-team collaboration skills

  • Passion for innovation continuous improvement and engineering best practices.
