About the Role
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting financial operations ensuring accurate reporting and maintaining compliance with accounting standards. This position manages day-to-day accounting functions including general ledger entries reconciliations accounts payable accounts receivable and financial statement preparation. The Staff Accountant plays a key role in month-end and year-end closing processes cost accounting and audit support. Ideal candidates will have strong knowledge of GAAP attention to detail and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced business environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain financial policies and procedures to support effective financial management and reporting
- Establish monitor and enforce internal controls to strengthen financial decision-making
- Prepare and present accurate financial statements including balance sheets income statements and profit and loss reports
- Manage general ledger activities including journal entries and account categorization
- Perform cost accounting tasks and assist with financial analysis across departments
- Reconcile bank accounts and other financial accounts to ensure accuracy of transactions
- Support accounts receivable collections and manage accounts payable including invoice verification and processing
- Maintain the fixed asset register and perform accurate depreciation calculations
- Provide documentation and account details during external audits
- Collaborate with technology providers to improve accounting systems and software functionality
- Assist with compliance reporting to banking institutions and regulatory agencies
- Support payroll processing as a backup including report preparation
- Allocate expenses according to company procedures and maintain detailed records
- Perform month-end and year-end close processes including preparation of supporting schedules
- Stay updated on current accounting practices procedures and GAAP requirements
- Complete additional tasks as needed to support the finance team
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of three years of experience in accounting or finance roles
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with accounting software
- Strong understanding of financial and cost accounting principles
- Knowledge of GAAP and regulatory compliance requirements
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
