PURPOSE
The Associate Director of Integrated Marketing and Communications (ADIMC) serves as the strategic leader and chief architect of the Harte Research Institutes (HRI) marketing and communications initiatives. Reporting to the HRI Executive Director of Development this position is responsible for advancing the institutes mission through compelling storytelling brand alignment and coordinated multi-channel campaigns. The ADIMC ensures a cohesive voice across platforms while elevating the visibility and impact of HRIs work in marine science conservation and policy.
DESCRIPTION
Strategic Planning and Brand Management (40%)
Develop and implement a comprehensive data-driven integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned with HRIs values and institutional goals.
Strengthen and manage the institutes brand identity across all media and communication platforms.
Design and execute advertising plans that support audience engagement and strategic growth.
Manage vendor relationships and negotiate media placements across digital print broadcast and out-of-home platforms.
Leverage analytics to measure campaign effectiveness and continuously optimize messaging and tactics
Team Leadership and Cross-Campus Collaboration (40%)
Lead and mentor a marketing and communications team (24 staff) fostering a culture of creativity accountability and continuous improvement.
Oversee all marcom campaigns from concept to evaluation ensuring consistent execution and measurable impact.
Collaborate with faculty staff and university partners to promote key initiatives and research outcomes.
Act as liaison between HRI and the Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMU-CC) marketing and communications office.
Operational Oversight and Content Management (20%)
Oversee the departments operational budget and ensure responsible fiscal management.
Serve as the lead editor for all marketing and communications content.
Ensure all materials meet brand guidelines and university standards.
Manage content development and updates for the HRI website and digital channels.
Coordinate internal communications including email updates newsletters and event notifications.
Oversee sponsorship recognition promotional item inventory and publication production.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree in marketing communications advertising or a related field.
Eight (8) years of related experience.
Additional education may be used as a substitute for the minimum experience requirement:
Masters degree and six (6) years of related experience.
Demonstrated experience developing and executing integrated campaigns across multiple platforms.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Proven ability to use analytics and metrics to inform decision-making.
Experience managing budgets and vendor relationships.
Excellent writing editing and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency in standard office software including word processing and spreadsheets.
Passion for science communication and environmental issues.
Ability to maintain the security and integrity of critical infrastructure which may include communications systems computer networks and systems cybersecurity systems electrical grid hazardous waste treatment system or water treatment system.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in higher education environmental science or conservation-focused organizations.
