Program Summary
IRCOs Workforce Development Sector of 45 staff provides culturally appropriate career services and wrap-around support to immigrants refugees and the community at large so that they can reach their full potential. Career Coach staff provide skills coaching career exploration and career plan development for targeted industries to participants with the goal of securing career track employment and livable wages.


Position Summary
A Home For Everyone Program serves people who are houseless/housing insecure to find employment and/or training to make them a higher qualified candidate. The program is funded through Worksystems and the A Home For Everyone initiative.


The Career Coach staff in this role will provide skills coaching career exploration and career plan development for targeted industries with the goal of helping participants secure career track employment and livable wages. The Career Coach will provide these services needed throughout the program focused on long-term guidance and coaching for participants as they work through a career plan including progression through training and into employment. The Career Coach will work with other project partners and IRCO programs to provide resources and wrap-around support.


Essential Functions

  • Provide ongoing outreach and recruitment of housing insecure immigrants refugees BIPOC and other community members facing barriers to employment who reside throughout Multnomah County
  • Engage participants in Career Mapping to identify strengths and capacities develop goals and concrete strategies for addressing barriers to employment
  • Learn about and apply services available to houseless and/or unstably housed in Multnomah County
  • Coordinate with training providers and Worksource and assure that participants enter trainings
  • Perform a large volume of data entry and case notes
  • Maintain accurate records data tracking and narratives to reflect project activities
  • Prepare quarterly report on services based on data entry and program activities
  • Provide continuous and enhanced life skills training soft skill development and career coaching to help participants build employability and life skills
  • Engage participants in job readiness activities that will address barriers to employment
  • Link eligible and ready clients to other IRCO resources and partner resources
  • Provide ongoing job search and placement support
  • Assist participants in applying for jobs and accompany to interviews
  • Provide retention and advancement support once participant has entered employment
  • Provide resource information for tutoring during occupational training
  • Open communication with key partners and employers on participants activities progress and challenges through established systems phone calls emails and regular meetings

Secondary Functions

  • Attend trainings and meetings conducted as part of the A Home For Everyone program
  • Participate in staff meetings trainings and committees to support A Home for Everyone program and agencys goals
  • Interact with staff in other IRCO programs and community partners and refer clients to these parties
Requirements

Education & Experience

MINIMUM JOB SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Some college or Bachelors degree required
  • 1- 2 years of work experience in social services case management workforce development homeless services or related field
  • Proficiency in Spanish highly desired. (Consideration for Ukrainian Swahili Arabic Amharic Somali Burmese Dari and Farsi language)

Physical Mental & Environmental Requirements

  • Hybrid setting both in person and remote work required
  • Positions require some analysis of problems or decision-making ability
  • Work under close supervision
  • Well protected environment with minimal hazards or obstacles
  • Stable work schedule with no fluctuations

Supervisory Responsibilities

Positions at this level are not responsible for any supervisory functions or responsibilities but may occasionally be asked to orient and/or train new employees or volunteers.
