We are seeking a technically skilled and solutions-driven Maintenance and Project Engineer to join our Manufacturing team in Waco TX. This role is essential to ensuring equipment reliability leading plant improvement initiatives and managing technical project execution. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in engineering maintenance planning and project management with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Position Overview:
The Maintenance and Project Engineer is responsible for developing preventive maintenance programs implementing improvement projects and managing technical aspects of capital projects. This role focuses on improving equipment uptime optimizing maintenance systems and supporting plant-wide initiatives through engineering and project leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules scopes of work and spare parts lists.
- Conduct equipment audits and quality checks of maintenance work.
- Analyze spare parts usage and optimize inventory levels.
- Lead root cause analysis of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Implement and maintain an app-based maintenance management system.
- Develop routine maintenance reporting on job completion man-hours parts usage and open work orders.
- Identify and implement plant improvement projects using Lean tools and the DMAIC process.
- Lead and coordinate technical project planning execution and reporting ensuring delivery on scope schedule and budget.
- Participate in the identification justification and completion of capital improvement projects.
Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelors degree in Engineering REQUIRED
- Project Management and Maintenance Planning certifications Preferred
- Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt) Preferred
- OSHA 30-Hour certification Preferred
Experience
- 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in both maintenance and project roles
- Recent experience with batch process operations (construction materials engineered mortars food etc.)
- Demonstrated success leading plant improvement initiatives and implementing new equipment or processes
Skills & Competencies
- Strong technical aptitude with excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel); experience with SQL AutoCAD and Minitab preferred
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally and lead project teams
- Strong organizational time management and decision-making skills
- Commitment to quality safety and continuous improvement
- Ability to work in dynamic environments and adapt to changing priorities
Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
This role involves both office and plant floor responsibilities including exposure to varying environmental conditions such as heat humidity and airborne particles. Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds occasionally and use PPE as required.
