Q Labs is looking for a Lab Technician to prepare media reagents and supplies for the Microbiology Laboratories process glassware and other laboratory equipment decontaminate biological test articles and assist the Quality Assurance department in programs related to calibrations/metrics. For full-time the schedule for this role will be either Tuesday to Saturday or Sunday to Thursday. The hours will be 6am to 3pm but an 8am to 5pm shift may be available. Primary Responsibilities: - Prepare all media solvents reagents etc. and equipment for tests as required.
- Maintain all quality control records and media preparation records as directed in the Standard Operating Procedure Manual CGMP Procedure Manual and/or company protocols.
- Maintain an adequate supply of all media/reagents/supplies and requisition when necessary. A periodic inventory will be taken to assure that adequate supplies are maintained.
- Label clearly all media with date opened and initials.
- Label clearly all prepared reagents with name and concentration date prepared initials of person who prepared media and expiration date.
- Complete all media requests by the date indicated on the media prep sheet or if unable to do so communicate and prioritize as necessary with the Supervisor.
- Maintain a clean laboratory area.
- Maintain the necessary calibrations/standardizations of equipment used in the Media Prep area and assist the Quality Assurance department in calibration/verification of equipment when requested.
- Participate in non-conformance/corrective action/OOS investigations when requested.
- Clean and maintain all media prep glassware.
- Sterilize glassware and test apparatuses as required and maintain quality control documentation as required.
- Process contaminated waste and dispose of decontaminated waste
- Sort and store unused glassware and equipment in an efficient manner.
- Maintain and promptly report malfunctions of autoclaves and other laboratory equipment to the Supervisor.
- Replenish glassware supplies in laboratory areas.
- Report any deviations in procedure to the Supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and Abilities: - Ability to schedule and complete media preparation in advance of tests conducted in the section.
- Ability to operate dishwasher autoclaves drying ovens and other equipment in area.
- Knowledge of laboratory equipment balances pH meter automatic pipettor etc.
- Basic working knowledge of microbiology and mathematics.
- Ability to follow instructions and prioritize tasks.
- Can maintain quality control records; keep accurate legible and complete records following good documentation practices.
- Ability to recognize malfunctions of equipment.
- Ability to cooperate with all persons of the company.
- Can lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds.
Experience and Education: Any combination of education training and experience that has led to the acquisition of the knowledge skills and abilities as indicated above. Typical ways of acquiring these knowledge skills and abilities are: - High School Diploma with courses in Chemistry and Biology or a related field
