Where you ll be working
This Health Service is the major provider of healthcare services in the region and serves a population of approximately 44,000. It is unique in being both a sub-regional and an integrated health service, treating approximately 12,000 acute inpatients and 17,000 Emergency Department patients per year. The hospital has 56 acute beds, 25 medical ward beds and 6 ICU beds. The core services provided here include delivery of Acute Hospital Care, Rehabilitation, Aged Care Services, Outpatient Services, Home Based Services and Community Health.

The Surgery Department offers extensive surgical services provided by a skilled team of local surgeons supported by multidisciplinary staff specialists and visiting specialists. Here, you will contribute to the provision of comprehensive surgical care, including general and specialist surgery procedures. This includes colorectal, breast, laparoscopic, endoscopic, gynaecological, ENT, ophthalmology, urology, IVF and Paediatrics. You will also provide consultative and surgical management support to clinicians in other specialties. Surgical services at this hospital are supported by both specialist and general practitioner anaesthetists. You will have the opportunity for excellent exposure to a wide range of surgical conditions, allowing you to utilise your full range of surgical skills. You will also have opportunities to contribute to the education and supervision of surgical registrars and junior doctors.

Salary information
Consultant General Surgeons can expect a competitive salary in line with the VIC Award, plus a range of benefits.

Requirements
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS), or equivalent.
