Job Description

The opportunity

We are seeking a Consultant Database Specialist to maintain our presence in third-party consultant databases such as eVestment Callan and GIMD Mercer. The Consultant Database Specialist supports Manulife Investment Management and John Hancock firm and product profiles with timely data updates profile additions and search support among other activities. This role is critical in ensuring that our investment products and strategies are accurately represented and accessible to investment consultants and institutional clients.

The ideal candidate is comfortable in a fast-paced environment and working with quantitative data. A more experienced candidate will have a background in the investment management industry and 3rd party consultant databases. Some experience in data analysis and especially with eVestment Analytics is a plus.

The individual will get exposure to marketing reporting analytics and consultant relations/distribution teams offering several possible areas for development within a global asset management firm.

Please note that consultant databases are 3rd party systems that we dont own or develop. Database development skills arent relevant to this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an understanding of the role of 3rd party consultants in the institutional and retail space support the consultant relations team on this important part of our marketing efforts and look for ways to enhance the marketing teams level and quality of support
  • Source monthly and quarterly investment data from internal reporting teams
  • Using an external vendors consolidation tool make monthly and quarterly updates to our firm and product profiles across third-party consultant databases including data such as investment performance assets under management equity and fixed income characteristics
  • Support ad hoc requests such as search support new product additions
  • Communicate with stakeholders about status of regular updates and ad hoc requests

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience
  • 1-5 years of experience preferred either in the financial industry working with quantitative data or with databases
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • High comfort level working with large amounts of quantitative data across multiple data sets
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and comfortable asking questions to gain understanding
  • Highly detail oriented
  • Conscientious about following processes as defined owning tasks and seeing them through to completion
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Interest in institutional asset management and retail investing

Differentiators

  • Experience with a consultant database support tool such as Omni APX Stream preferred
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to investment consulting is a plus

Salary range is expected to be between

$71550.00 USD - $119250.00 USD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge skills qualifications experience and education/training.
