  • Crew Manager (in accordance with NJC pay scales) or Grade 5 37035 (Green book)
  • 37 Hours per week
  • Permanent

Suffolk Fire and Rescue Serviceare seeking a highly motivated individual to join as a Driver Training Instructorwithin ourOperational Training team. As a Driver Training Instructor you will play a crucial role in developing and assessing the driving skills of our firefighters ensuring they are equipped to operate emergency vehicles safely and effectively.

You will be based atIpswich East Fire Stationand will be required to travel around the county (lone working) to different locations using service vehicles.

Your role and responsibilities

  • Develop and assess new and existing drivers on their driving skills under emergency response conditions.
  • Deliver refresher training to all operational drivers.
  • Maintain a high standard of health and safety and driving standards in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Instil safe driving practices and best practices among drivers.
  • Embrace the WE ASPIRE values of Suffolk County Council.

You will need:

  • A full driving licence (cat c) with 6 points or less.
  • Competent Emergency Response Driver (EDRT) Unit 1.
  • Level 3 in Education and Training Qualification (desirable).
  • An ADI qualification (desirable).
  • Health and Safety Qualifications(desirable).
  • Experience in instructing and assessing.
  • Ability to adapt to learn new skills to enhance training delivery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and professionalism.
