Summary:
The School Psychologist is a highly skilled team member who provides leadership around student-focused outcomes at the individual classroom grade building and district levels through evaluation consultation and collaboration within a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework. This job includes participation in problem-solving teams and requires knowledge of assessment data collection and analysis; curriculum-based assessments and tiered systems of interventions.
Education:
- Education Specialist Degree (Ed.S.) in School Psychology from an accredited program
- Strong new graduates and out-of-state candidates may be considered.
Certification:
- Valid Michigan School Psychologist Certificate or eligible for approval as a School Psychologist
- Out-of-state applicants must be eligible for Preliminary School Psychologist certificate or an emergency provisional certification.
Work Experience:
- Previous experience as a school psychologist in a public school setting preferred
Preferred Job Skills:
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Experience in leading multidisciplinary evaluations
- Ability to work collaboratively with administrators parents teachers other ancillary team members para-professionals mental health clinicians etc.
- Experience with Functional Behavior Assessment and Positive Behavior Intervention and Support
- Ability to provide consultation related to best practices in classroom management and instruction
- Working knowledge of trauma-informed practices
- Working knowledge of Q-Global and Q-Interactive assessments and scoring preferred (training will be provided if needed)
- Knowledge of state and federal special education laws
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist school teams in the development and implementation of MTSS and trauma-informed practices
- Conduct psychological assessments of academic social emotional and behavior domains
- Consult with parents agencies and school teams concerning the educational social-emotional or behavioral needs as well as providing direction in child development accessing community resources and problem solving home or crisis situations.
- Assist with the collection and analysis of data for building or district decision-making
- Assist students in understanding their unique strengths and areas of difficulty
- Valid drivers license required
