Cornell Bowers is home to more than 225 employees which includes approximately 130 faculty. To meet growing student interest in the colleges majors and courses Cornell Bowers is investing in hiring faculty and enhancing its staff infrastructure. This growth will expand the colleges impact on higher education technology and society.
What You Will Do
This role will direct the administrative organization within the Information Science department with an annual operating budget and annual research expenditures of $9M and $3M respectively.
Additional areas of responsibility in this role include:
Stewardship over departmental finance personnel facilities and academic program support.
Lead departmental administrative and graduate program staff teams.
Partner with chairs and faculty academic directors to ensure effective unit leadership including management of joint/dual faculty appointments with other colleges (e.g. Agriculture and Life Sciences Arts & Sciences and Engineering).
Coordinate related faculty hiring and academic program partnership with NYC Tech campus.
Facilitate development of new programs and implement changes in university systems policies and procedures in support of cross-college educational and research mission.
Lead change management efforts in the departments partnering with other Bowers administrative directors.
Serve as a member of the Bowers administrative leadership team develop and implement strategic administrative initiatives identify and disseminate best practices and represent Bowers on university projects/committees.

What We Need
Bachelors Degree w/ minimum 5-7 years exp. or equiv. in administrative and financial operations.
Required skills and attributes: demonstrated expertise in fund accounting budget and financial analysis and reporting; human resource management leading effective teams facilities management and strategic planning excellent analytical skills
Proven ability to establish and sustain effective relationships with all constituents.
Exceptional communication interpersonal and writing skills.
Effective change agent leader and mentor.
Must possess demonstrated success in effective decision-making representing the departments and college professionally and ethically with tact diplomacy and advocacy.
Self-starter.
Demonstrated ability to effectively allocate resources interpret policy and manage competing priorities as well as implement and foster outstanding customer-service.
Proven experience connecting inclusion belonging and wellbeing practices to business goals.
It would be a bonus if you have any of the following:
Post-graduate degree preferred.
Knowledge of Cornell financial policies and systems HR policies and practices and grant and contract management experience preferred.

Rewards and Benefits
This position is located in Ithaca New York. The position will typically allow for the flexibility to work remotely 1 day per week at a location of employees choosing within the United States after an initial introductory phase to integrate into the community and team. There is more flexibility to work remotely 2 days per week in the summer depending on department needs. The New York Convenience of employer guidelines require New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position. Additional individual state income tax filings may also be required if working temporarily outside New York State.
