Summer Bilingual (Spanish) Office Assistant (Temporary) Transportation Office 7/7/25-8/15/25 INTERNAL CANDIDATES PREFERRED Salem Public Schools
What Youll Do:
The summer assistant will help answer phone calls maintainspreadsheets greet and assist families that come into the Transportation office help track buses communicate with transportation vendors and other duties asneeded.
Role Responsibilities:
- Performs general secretarial and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling copying faxing data entry filing bus passes etc.) for the purpose of supporting site operations
- Serves as receptionist; greets students parents staff and the public efficiently and courteously; answers or refers telephone and in-person inquiries; takes messages; promotes positive public relations for the district
- Distributes and processes bus applications school bus information and other necessary forms
- Maintains a variety of files and records as assigned such as riders lists daily schedules building usage orders bus enrollment bus and emergency information confidential special need student files and a wide variety of other files and records as assigned
- Dispatch and communicate with school bus drivers and monitors to get students to and from school safely on a daily basis.
- Prepares forms form letters and other documents as required at acceptable levels of speed and accuracy; collates and photocopies materials as necessary; maintains supply of forms and charts as needed
- Additional duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent; AssociatesDegree or Higher Preferred
- Second Language (Spanish) Proficiency Required
- School Transportation experience Highly Desirable
- Have a minimum of two years of successful experience in a related secretarial or office position
- Proficiency with Google ASPEN and other software helpful
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional relationship with co-workers students parents staff and visitors; cultural sensitivity and ability to relate well and effectively in a diverse workplace and with a diverse client population
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot general office equipment (e.g. copier fax etc.)
Reports to: Transportation Manager

End date: 8/15
Time: 8am-1pm (5hr total)
Days: Monday - Friday
Location: Transportation Office (Central Office)
Pay rate: Contractual hourly rate
