Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary hands-on owner of Nissin ion implanter tools accountable for uptime reliability and total cost of ownership.
  • Partner closely with the assigned Process Engineer conducting weekly syncs to review performance set priorities and co-own improvement roadmaps.
  • Execute equipment improvement plans targeting uptime MTTR reduction process stability and cost reduction.
  • Lead or assist in tool troubleshooting and repairs particularly during high-complexity or high-impact events.
  • Use equipment data (MTBF PM effectiveness downtime tracking) to identify trends and prevent repeat failures.
  • Develop and continuously refine preventive maintenance procedures ensuring consistency and effectiveness.
  • Mentor and train EES technicians on equipment operation troubleshooting and best-known methods.
  • Interface directly with OEM support teams to resolve escalations implement tool upgrades and maintain documentation accuracy.
  • Drive spare part strategy by identifying gaps working with purchasing and sourcing parts directly with global vendors when needed.
  • Implement cost-saving strategies through in-house repairs parts rework or tool configuration optimization.
  • Provide support as needed to plasma etch metrology EPI and Zone 3 packing area tools.
  • Participate in daily pass downs team meetings and cross-functional reviews to communicate tool status and drive accountability.
  • Must be willing and able to travel internationally (typically <10%) to support vendor engagement training or escalation resolution.
  • Track the performance and failures of the tools in the area to identify trends drive improvements and prevent excursions.
  • Work to prevent or reduce major equipment failures and extended downtime. Identify and correct and chronic problem areas using both on-site and off-site equipment expertise.
  • Continuously work to identify gaps in what we stock for spare parts on our aging equipment set collaborate with purchasing on finding a solution.
  • Participate in the interpretation of data to aid in CIP and the resolution and optimization of equipment issues.
  • Participates in team meetings such as pass downs continuous improvements engineering reviews or problem resolution.
  • Support capital projects inside of and outside of direct responsibilities.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in a technical field Military Electronics Certification or 10 years of experience maintaining semiconductor equipment.
  • Required: Hands-on experience maintaining or supporting implanter plasma and vacuum tools.

Skills

  • Deep working knowledge of ion implant systems including beamline tuning vacuum systems RF generators and high-voltage power supplies.
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools such as oscilloscopes DMMs RGAs RF meters and leak detectors.
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical vacuum pneumatic and mechanical schematics.
  • Understanding of SPC theory and application in a production environment.
  • Comfortable designing or modifying simple components for mechanical upgrades or repairs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel Word PowerPoint Outlook).
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills across cross-functional teams and vendors.
  • Organized self-motivated and able to balance long-term projects with real-time support demands.
  • Hands-on mindset is essentialmust be comfortable troubleshooting disassembling and reassembling tool components.
  • Able to turn an idea into a prototype by designing a part and have it fabricated at a machine shop.
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively utilizing all methods available to them.
  • Take full ownership of any down tool through resolution including diagnosis parts identification and ordering PO initiation vendor coordination delivery tracking and providing daily management updates until the issue is fully resolved.

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work in a Class 100/1000 clean room.
  • Wear full clean room attire.
  • Work around chemicals such as gases liquids acids solvents or solids.
  • Work around hazardous and non-hazardous gases.
  • Stand for up to 10 hours a day.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift 50 pounds.
  • Stand for up to 10 hours a day in cleanroom.
  • Capable of maneuvering around beneath and inside tools for hands-on work.
  • Ability to stand kneel crouch and climb as needed during repairs or upgrades

Safety Requirements

All employees are required to attend scheduled training follow the site EHS procedures and Corporate EHS standards. This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities.

Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently. They will ensure that risk assessments are performed proper training work instructions required PPE is available and will monitor compliance.
