Job Description

Required Education: Bachelors degree.

Skills:

  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office to include Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint and ability to navigate and maintain databases
  • Skilled in communicating well and building rapport quickly with students faculty and staff
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Demonstrates ability to learn interpret and articulate complex policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of state university college and major policies and procedures
  • Willingness to work independently collaboratively and under supervision
  • Committed to maintaining confidentiality and securing sensitive information

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for long periods of time.
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Ability to engage in repetitive motion.
  • Standard office environment.
  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies.
  • Requires contact with other departments and university officials.

Departmental Preferences:

  • Masters degree in academic advising higher education administration student development or counseling preferred.
  • Previous academic advising or student support experience preferred.

Price Academic Advising Services works as a team creating supportive relationships that equip students with the information and resources necessary for their academic and personal success. Academic Advisors at Price College serve students by teaching them to successfully navigate through university requirements and college policies/procedures. In addition advisors offer information about exciting OU and Price College opportunities and resources academic resources tutoring and tools for success. All Academic Advisors at the University of Oklahoma receive comprehensive training that is guided by the highest professional standards in the field and reflect the NACADA Academic Advising Core Competencies Model. Advisors are provided opportunities for professional development and career advancement that are self-directed and encompass the wide offerings of the profession.
