Job Description

Manager of School-based Mentorship (MSBM) (Full-time 40 hours) Exempt

The Manager of School-Based Mentorship will provide strategic oversight and direct supervision of all BUILD mentors within the Mental Health and Therapeutic Services Department. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring program quality and fidelity increasing mentor productivity and strengthening alignment between mentors school personnel and therapeutic staff. The manager will support the integrated cohort model used in BUILDs gender-based therapeutic and mentorship programs; BUILDing Boys to Men (BB2M) and BUILDing Girls to Women (BG2W) ensuring mentoring services are trauma-informed youth-centered and culturally responsive. This position will work closely with the Manager of School-Based Mental Health to ensure smooth coordination between mentorship and therapeutic supports across school sites.


Summary of Responsibilities:


1. Supervision & Program Oversight

  • Directly supervise and coach BB2M and BG2W coordinator and mentors.
  • Conduct weekly 1:1 supervision ensure performance expectations are met and address performance concerns proactively.
  • Support mentors in delivering BUILDs cohort-based trauma-informed mentoring model in school-based settings.
  • Support mentors in planning and facilitating structured group sessions that align with program goals and the cohort-based model.

Mentorship Engagement and Accountability

  • Support increased mentor engagement and caseload efficiency across the school year.
  • Establish clear benchmarks to monitor youth engagement session completion and documentation.
  • Review mentor progress through regular data tracking and collaboration with therapists and school partners.

3. Ensure Consistent Program Delivery

  • Ensure fidelity to the BB2M/BG2W program model across all school sites.
  • Provide tools templates and ongoing training to mentors that standardize delivery of services and improve consistency in practice.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks through site visits session observations and review of youth engagement data.
  • Ensure group sessions are implemented with consistency purpose and alignment with the programs trauma-informed and restorative framework.

4. Strengthen Collaboration with Schools and Therapists

  • Serve as primary liaison between mentors school administrators and therapists.
  • Coordinate weekly communication structures to align services and resolve site-level challenges.
  • Work in close collaboration with the Manager of School-Based Mental Health to align schedules co-manage care team strategies and enhance integration of clinical and mentoring services.
  • Participate in care team meetings and cross-functional planning with other program managers.

5. Data Reporting & Compliance

  • Collect and track mentor output data including caseload sizes session frequency youth engagement rates and goal completion.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of reports to the Director and external funders when needed.
  • Utilize data to inform continuous improvement and drive accountability.

6. Training & Professional Development

  • Provide orientation and ongoing training for all mentors.
  • Facilitate monthly professional development focused on trauma-informed care restorative practices and culturally relevant engagement.
Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in social work Education Youth Development Nonprofit Management or related field (masters preferred)
  • At least 2 years of experience supervising staff in school-based or youth-serving settings
  • Deep understanding of mentoring best practices trauma-informed care and urban education systems
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership staff development and performance management
  • Ability to build strong relationships with schools youth families and community stakeholders
  • Proficient in using databases tracking tools and outcome reporting
  • Flexible schedule with ability to travel between school sites
