Staff Software Engineer Containerization

Position: Type: Full Time

Location: Colorado Springs Colorado. This is not a remote position.

Travel Requirements:

  • Expect up to 3 international trips per year 2-3 weeks each with company-paid airfare lodging and per-diem.
  • Must hold (or be able to obtain) a U.S. passport valid for 6 months past each trip.

Salary Range: In compliance with Colorados Equal Pay for Equal Work Act the salary range for this role is $115000 - $148000. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidates relevant work skills certifications and geographic location.

Additional Compensation: This position is eligible for an end-of-year bonus.

As a Staff Software Engineer with a Containerization focus you will lead the development of robust microservices and infrastructure using Kubernetes Docker and cloud-native tools. Youll mentor teammates influence architectural decisions and drive the continuous improvement of deployment pipelines that support resilient scalable platforms at the core of Bluestaqs mission.


Responsibilities:

  • Engineer Scalable Solutions: Design and develop complex software systems with a focus on robustness scalability and security.

  • Available 3 p.m.-6 p.m. Mountain Time Monday-Thursday for live collaboration with international partners; remaining schedule is flexible within standard Bluestaq core business hours.
  • Partner daily with distributed teams bridging time-zone gaps to drive architectural decisions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Programming Expertise: Proficient in Java Python or other major programming languages.
  • Build Systems Proficiency: Hands-on experience with Java build tools like Maven and Gradle.
  • Security and Cloud Knowledge: Strong background in applied security principles and cloud infrastructures particularly AWS.
  • Data Solutions Mastery: Experience with big data technologies and modern data storage solutions.
  • Full-Stack Development Skills: Proven ability in both front-end and back-end development.
  • Agile Collaboration: Familiarity with Scrum and Agile methodologies.
  • Analytical Problem Solver: Sharp analytical skills with a problem-solving mindset.

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Security Certifications: DoD Security or CISSP certification.

  • Containerization & DevOps Tools: Proficiency with Kubernetes Docker Terraform and Jenkins.
  • Frameworks and Libraries: Experience with Spring Boot and React.
  • Database Proficiency: Hands-on knowledge of SQL databases (MySQL PostgreSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB Cassandra).
  • Big Data Platforms: Familiarity with Hadoop Spark and Elasticsearch.
  • Version Control Systems: Proficiency in Git GitHub or Bitbucket.
  • Development Tools: Experience using Eclipse IntelliJ IDEA Maven or Gradle.

Required Education: Required Education: 6 years of software development with a Bachelor of Science degree OR Associate degree with 2 additional years beyond the minimum may be substituted in lieu of a degree OR a High School Diploma with 4 additional years beyond the minimum may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

Clearance Requirement: This position requires the ability to obtain a TS/SCI Clearance.
