Position Summary
The Oregon Center for the Arts at Southern Oregon University ( SOU ) Music program provides private student lessons for credit. The Applied Music Adjunct conducts private music lessons including piano organ voice brass percussion woodwinds guitar strings and music composition. The Applied Music Adjunct position may be one-term (approximately ten to eleven weeks) or multiple terms as needed depending on student registration. The Applied Music Adjunct position is paid at an hourly rate and is based on student enrollment. Applied Music Adjunct pay is tracked by time card. The instructor will list on their time card the exact time worked. To be included: lesson time with the student preparation time for the lesson rehearsal time and jury participation. Total hours per student should not exceed 1 hour per student per week for a 1/2 hour lesson taught. Anticipated rate of $21.67 to $26.00 per hour (Rate dependent on Terminal degree). Not to exceed 1 hour per student per week for a 1/2 hour lesson taught.

Regular teaching activities may include standing sitting and lecturing.

Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in music and previous teaching experience in this area. In exceptional circumstances significant professional experience in a relevant field may substitute for the degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Terminal degree in music or equivalent.
