About the Role
Databricks is seeking a highly skilled Senior Counsel to support our growing business with government institutions across EMEA and other international markets. Reporting to the Director Assistant General Counsel you will play a key role in navigating complex public sector transactions ensuring compliance with international procurement rules and advising on critical legal and regulatory matters in a rapidly evolving cloud and AI landscape. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape Databricks international public sector strategy while working at the cutting edge of data cloud and AI innovation.
What Youll Do
- Public Sector Transactions: Lead the negotiation and drafting of customer agreements and other transactions with government and public sector institutions across EMEA and international markets including RFP responses Statements of Work Order Forms and reseller arrangements. Partner closely with sales pricing and product teams to ensure that legal risk is aligned with business objectives and satisfies applicable compliance requirements.
- Government Procurement & Compliance: Advise on procurement rules and regulations impacting public sector sales including EU Directives and other international procurement frameworks.
- Data Protection & Cybersecurity: Guide compliance with international data privacy and cybersecurity regulations and standards relevant to government and public sector cloud services.
- Regulatory & Policy Coordination: Coordinate with our policy and compliance teams to monitor and assess changes in international laws and policies affecting cloud and AI adoption in the public sector advising internal teams on risks and opportunities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with sales compliance security engineering and policy teams to enable successful market entry and execution across international jurisdictions.
- Dispute Resolution & Risk Management: Support bid protests contract disputes and other public sector legal matters in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Who You Are
- Law degree and qualified to practice in at least one jurisdiction in EU.
- 10 years of legal experience with a focus on public sector transactions and government contracting across international markets.
- Deep understanding of global public procurement rules international contracting practices data privacy and cybersecurity regulations.
- Strong ability to work crossfunctionally and navigate complex legal and regulatory environments.
- Fluent in English French and Italian (spoken and written)
- Experience transacting in Arabic is highly preferred
