About the role

As our company continues to experience significant growth we are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to become an integral part of our financial operations. In this role you will be responsible for managing essential accounting functions including accounts payable and receivable and performing critical reconciliations. You will also play a key part in enhancing our systems by contributing to process automation and the integrity of our financial position offers an excellent opportunity for an emerging accountant to develop their skills within a dynamic mission-driven environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the accounts payable ledger ensuring all supplier invoices are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform regular reconciliations of supplier statements and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Prepare and process payment runs ensuring correct approvals and documentation.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all supplier and contractor payment inquiries.
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations to ensure the complete and accurate recording of transactions.
  • Conduct detailed reconciliations between bank records and our internal revenue databases investigating and resolving any variances.
  • Assist with monitoring the accounts receivable ledger and following up on outstanding payments where necessary.
  • Drive efficiency by developing and implementing automated processes for generating contractor invoices directly from timesheet data.
  • Collaborate with the operations team to ensure data accuracy and create a seamless invoicing workflow.
  • Contribute to the building and management of a robust revenue database to support financial analysis and reporting.
  • Leverage database insights to provide strategic recommendations that drive operational efficiency and business growth
  • Prepare and distribute clear accurate monthly invoicing summaries for partner agencies and corporate clients.
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures BAS including journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Provide general accounting and administrative support to the finance team assisting with ad-hoc projects and reports as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelors degree in accounting Finance or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in an accounting support role (e.g. Accounts Assistant Accounts Officer Junior Accountant) in a SME ($25m Revenue)
  • Demonstrated experience with accounts payable accounts receivable and bank reconciliations.
